Report Woman In Her 20s Drives BMW into Pacific, Leaves Dogs Inside After Police Chase in LA – The incident unfolded in the early hours of Sunday, March 17, 2024, when a woman in her 20s, driving a BMW, led police on a high-speed chase through the streets of Los Angeles. The chase began around 11:21 p.m. in El Monte and ended at 12:03 a.m. in Venice Beach. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers attempted to pull over the woman for speeding on the 10 Freeway near Temple City Boulevard but were unsuccessful. The woman, who was driving at speeds of 78 mph and even faster during the pursuit, continued westbound towards the coast.

As the chase reached the coast, the woman drove her BMW X3 straight into the waves just south of the Venice Pier. The car got stuck in the whitewash, and the driver, abandoning her two Boston Terriers inside the vehicle, got out and started swimming offshore. The woman was seen swimming ‘like a professional athlete’ from the doomed car towards the fishing pier on Venice Beach.

The dramatic scene was witnessed by numerous onlookers, including a tourist named Sarah Jane from England, who described the incident as “like something out of an action movie.” The woman was eventually rescued by a Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department boat, which tossed a flotation donut into the ocean for her to grab onto. She was then hoisted onto the boat.

Meanwhile, the two Boston Terriers were discovered by deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and county lifeguards. One of the dogs managed to escape from the car when it was still in motion, scampering nervously on the sand before being picked up and calmed down by an onlooker. The other dog was rescued from the submerged car by lifeguards, who found it in the backseat after the car was pulled out of the water.

A spotlight is shone on the woman, who was in the water after plunging into it

The woman was taken into custody by a police boat, and the two dogs were placed into the care of animal control. The incident was marked by a large police presence at the beach on Saturday night and Sunday morning, with a significant amount of media attention. The next morning, beachgoers were surprised to find the car being towed from the water up onto the land and later taken away. The car’s front window was shattered, and mounds of sand could be seen in the front and back seat, along with skid marks in the sand.

The incident was a bizarre and dramatic end to a high-speed chase, leaving onlookers shocked and the woman’s actions sparking mixed reactions. The woman’s identity was withheld by the CHP, with plans to release it on Monday morning.
