It was one of the biggest shows of all-time and it could have continued to season 10 with a massive $110 million offer getting turned down by Jerry Seinfeld. Nonetheless, fans will always have the Seinfeld classics to look back on, and that includes the handful of episodes featuring Heidi Swedberg.

In the following, we’re going to take a closer look at Heidi’s career, and the major changes she made along the way. Swedberg didn’t blame Seinfeld for her Hollywood departure. Instead, she took aim at Hollywood and her older age for leaving the industry.

We’re also going to take a look at her new career, and how satisfied she is away from Hollywood. We’ll close things off by taking a look back at Jason Alexander’s apology towards the actress after a harsh assessment of her work on the show.

Heidi Swedberg Believes Her Age Caused Her Demise In Hollywood Once She Turned 30

As of 2010, Heidi Swedberg’s film credits came to a complete stop after a few years of appearing sporadically as a guest on TV shows for one-episode stints. Since then, she has found a completely different calling.

Speaking alongside Ukulele Magazine, Swedberg discussed how she turned her passion for ukulele into a profession. The former actress admitted goals started to change for her once she turned 30. Swedberg feels as though the industry changed once she hit the age.

She said, “I moved to the biggest cities, had a career, and worked hard to create an impressive resume. I had hobbies and took vacations from my stressful life. Gradually, over time, I found myself succeeding against all odds—at being miserable. Plus, I had made the mistake of turning 30. Few actresses’ careers survive this unpardonable gaffe.”

Despite appearing on one of the biggest shows on the planet at the time, Seinfeld, it seemed like Swedberg wasn’t satisfied with her career. Things took a turn during motherhood, as she picked up on her true passion.

Heidi Swedberg Found Her New Passion Playing The Ukulele During Motherhood

When Swedberg had children, she decided to put a stop to stresses and difficulties in Hollywood. Instead, she made the decision to be a mom, which entailed playing games and singing songs. This opened up a passion for the former Seinfeld guest-star.

“I started playing games and singing songs with my kids, returning to the simple tunes (and childhood) I had left behind. You have to sing to your children—there is no other option. How else do you get them to go to “Sleep, Baby, Sleep”? Take them for a stroll around “The Ash Grove,” to meet “Mr. Sandman.””

She continues, “The damn ukulele came back into my life, and after that it was all over. I no longer cared about being important or impressive. I didn’t even care that I wasn’t the best. I began to have fun.”

Swedberg has been able to spread joy with her music. She’s also an instructor these days. The star is living in a totally different reality these days, content with the future as in store.

“Life has become an endless stream of sharing music and joy with others, regardless of age or ability: ukulele festivals and cooking fiestas, preschools, jazz clubs, children’s hospitals, lawyer’s retreats, museums, Haitian orphanages—in truth, they are all the same. We come, we connect, and the beauty of love flares, blindingly bright, until we pass on to the next stage of our lives with a smile and a heart full of humanity.”

Jason Alexander Regretted His Past Statements Towards Heidi Swedberg

Swedberg isn’t looking back since leaving Hollywood for a completely different career. However, it should be noted that Jason Alexander was responsible for basically throwing Swedberg under the bus during an interview with Howard Stern.

Alexander revealed Heidi was impossible to work with, and the entire Seinfeld cast wanted her to be killed off. Following the interview, Alexander regretted his words and took full accountability.

“OK, folks, I feel officially awful,” Alexander wrote. “The impetus for telling this story was that Howard said, ‘Julia Louis-Dreyfus told me you all wanted to kill her.’ So I told the story to try and clarify that no one wanted to kill Heidi.”

“[Swedberg] was generous and gracious, and I am so mad at myself for retelling this story in any way that would diminish her,” Alexander continued. “If I had had more maturity or more security in my own work, I surely would have taken her query and possibly tried to adjust the scenes with her. She surely offered. But, I didn’t have that maturity or security.”

Alexander clearly went for the “it’s not you, it’s me” approach.
