James Haskell breaks silence on Chloe Madeley split as she talks ‘hardest time of life’

James Haskell has allegedly blamed paparazzi intrusion for his split with Chloe Madeley after five years of marriage. According to reports, the 38-year-old spoke to photographers from The Mirror outside London restaurant Chiltern Firehouse, after returning there for the first time since he was snapped having a cosy-looking chat with a female PR boss there last month.

Waving at them, he reportedly exclaimed: “You ended my marriage!” Chloe was soon spotted without her wedding ring, although she subsequently took to social media to explain that the pair had secretly split a month before the photos had emerged.

The personal trainer and fitness expert then spoke out this week to reveal that she and James had been through “the hardest summer of our lives” and that she’d been left with the urge to have therapy. “[My daughter] Bodhi became my sole priority and source of joy, but beyond her, absolutely everything felt impossible,” she told her 296,000 followers.

“[I] had a baby by emergency C-section, returned to work eight weeks later, filmed a reality TV show, and began separating from my husband after what was, to be totally honest, the hardest summer of both of our lives,” she recounted. “I’ve had mental health battles before, being diagnosed with GAD [generalised anxiety disorder] in my early twenties, so I knew there was a problem bubbling under the surface and was quick to get myself back into therapy.”

She also addressed the long period when she withdrew from posting about health and fitness, a topic which had previously been her passion and pride and joy. Chloe clarified that, behind the scenes, she’s still been working hard on it as her chosen career path.

“I still coach pretty much 7 days a week, online and PT, as well as having 2 health and fitness podcasts, so talking and writing about it is still the dominant factor of my day to day life and work,” she explained in her Instagram post.

“Because of the above, it would be fair to say that the idea of coming onto social media and repeating the things I’d been talking about all day/week… felt impossible.”

The daughter of TV personalities Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan went on to confess that she developed “pretty bad burn out”.

With numerous factors bubbling in the background, she opted to make her little girl her main focus, as well as her career.

Now, her self-care behind the scenes since the split seems to have paid off, as the formerly exhausted star says she has finally regained her strength.

“For the first time in a very long time, I feel good again. I feel happy again. I feel strong again!” she declared.

She concluded: “I really hope this [post] gives somebody else hope. Hope that even when it feels like you have nothing left, that you’re irreparably broken, you can slowly put yourself back together again.

“You will come back to yourself in time. Be patient with and be kind to yourself, and please keep going.”
