‘Incredibly concerning’: NSW sees spike in unlinked cases

New South Wales has seen another spike in daily COVID-19 cases, with 97 recorded today.

Of these, fewer than half were isolated throughout their entire infectious period. Twenty-nine cases were out in the community, 17 were partially isolated and the isolation status of five cases remains under investigation.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian described the figures as “concerning”, noting that the percentage of people infectious while in the community has continued to rise.

Among today’s new cases is a removalist who worked at a major apartment building in Sydney’s CBD while infectious.

Residents were informed about the case overnight and are being urged to get tested.
