BBC Scotland presenter Nick Sheridan died aged 32 after a short illness, according to Darley Anderson Children’s Book Agency. Confirming the sad news on their X page on Thursday, the agency shared a picture of the late host and author alongside the caption: “We are all heartbroken that our client Nick Sheridan passed away yesterday after a short illness.

“Nick was a talented author and a much-loved colleague and we will all miss him deeply. Our thoughts are with his partner, his family, his friends and his loved ones.” Nick worked as a Consumer Affairs Correspondent and presented the news review show Seven Days on BBC News in Scotland.

He was also a regular presenter of Drivetime of BBC Radio Scotland and a children’s author who released his first book in 2021. Ahead of his move to the BBC, he spent two years reporting and presenting Ireland’s RTE News2day, the young person’s news programme.

Nick’s representative Lydia Silver told Express.co.uk that the team are “devastated” by the news. She shared: “Over the last four years working together, Nick and I have become not just good colleagues but great friends. Nick was a hugely talented author and he loved his work – not just writing the books, but being able to reach children, entertain them, and know that he was having an impact.

“Nick was a brilliantly funny, warm, kind person to be around and everyone at Darley Anderson Children’s will miss him very much. Our thoughts are with his partner, his family and his friends.” Many more tributes have flooded in for the late author, including from Nicola Sturgeon.

Speaking out on X, she wrote: “So terribly sad to read this. It is truly awful. Nick was young, talented, vivacious, and full of potential. What a horrible, senseless loss.

“My thoughts are with his family, colleagues and many friends.”

International Literature Festival Dublin added: “We at ILFD are saddened to hear about the passing of Nick Sheridan; it was a genuine pleasure to have him at the festival in 2022. Our thoughts are with his friends, family, and loved ones.”

Nick’s former co-star Naveed Asghar typed: “So shocked to hear of the passing away of broadcaster @nick_sheridan with whom I did several shows on the BBC Seven Days show. My deepest sympathies go out to his loved ones.”

Nick’s representative Lydia Silver also told Express.co.uk: “Over the last four years working together, Nick and I have become not just good colleagues but great friends.

“Nick was a hugely talented author and he loved his work – not just writing the books, but being able to reach children, entertain them, and know that he was having an impact.

“Nick was a brilliantly funny, warm, kind person to be around and everyone at Darley Anderson Children’s will miss him very much. Our thoughts are with his partner, his family and his friends.”

The presenter turned author said publishing his first book in 2021 was “a dream come true”.

Alongside a picture of himself proudly smiling with the book on Instagram, he added: “It’s mission is to help young people understand the world around them and have a lot of laughs along the way.”

Nick went on to publish a further three books; The Case of the Runway Brain, The Case of the Phantom Treasure and Mind Magic with co-author Keith Barry.

The presenter’s final X post was shared on February 24 ahead of him going live on the airwaves.

Nick shared a stunning view of the sunrise from his seat as well as picture of the studio microphone alongside the caption: “On air from 8am with your weekend edition of Good Morning Scotland, reflecting on 2 years since Putin’s order for a Russian invasion of Ukraine.”
