Films seem to play a key role in the selection of well-read books as dozens listed had blockbuster adaptations.

Liane Moriarty’s Big Little Lies (and A Husband’s Secret, which is currently under adpation and set to star Blake Lively) is among the books on the list.

The book was adapted by Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine and won dozens of Emmys and Golden Globes thanks to its A-list cast including Nicole Kidman and Meryl Streep.

Little Fires Everywhere, also adapted by Reese Witherspoon, made the cut, as did Celeste Ng’s first book Everything I Never Told you.

Where the Crawdads Sing – which was made into a film starring Daisy Edgar-Jones – Girl on the Train (made into a film starring Emily Blunt) and Lesson in Chemistry – the adaptation of which is currently on Apple TV were all among the titles.

Goodreads, which is the world’s largest site for readers and book recommendations, determined the list by how many readers marked the books Read, Currently Reading, or Want to Read.
