Real Housewives of New Jersey star Lauren Manzo addresses her divorce from Vito Scalia: ‘This has been done for a very long time’

Lauren Manzo took to her Instagram on Tuesday to discuss her husband Vito Scalia’s decision to file for divorce in September, after eight-years of marriage.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey star, 35, posted a candid video, sharing she was in Italy for her brother’s wedding, as she addressed her and Scalia’s, 37, split.

The reality TV beauty said the marriage ‘has been done for a very long time’ and the divorce is something the couple had decided on together.

She revealed they didn’t announce it publicly for the sake of their six-year-old daughter Marchesa’s privacy.

‘By now you guys have seen the news that has broken. I just want to let you guys know: we’re all good. This has been done for a very long time,’ she said at the start of the clip.

She went on: ‘The last part of the process was filing. We were on the same page. This is something that we did together.’

‘Vito and I have a lot of love and respect for each other. We continue to move forward as a family. All that matters to us is that our daughter is happy and healthy.’

‘Her privacy is important to us. We haven’t been on TV in seven years, which is why we did not feel the need for some dramatic announcement.’

She stated once more, ‘We continue to move forward with love and respect for each other, and we’ll always be a family.’

‘That’s it. It’s about our daughter and her privacy, because she didn’t ask to be on TV, we did.’

In the caption of the video she simply left a red heart emoji.

Scalia cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ with Manzo in divorce documents he filed in New Jersey September 5, The Sun reported on Monday.

Scalia, a restauranteur, said in court docs that he and Manzo had ongoing problems ‘for a period of at least six months,’ which led to ‘the breakdown of their marriage.’

Scalia said in the court docs – which were served to Manzo September 29 – that it had been ‘apparent that the marriage should be dissolved,’ as ‘there is no reasonable prospect of reconciliation.’

Days after Manzo had been served with the divorce docs, The Sun reported, a lawyer representing the reality star told the court that he would represent her in regards to future legal proceedings in regards to custody and support.

Manzo’s lawyer said that he was overseeing ‘all financial related issues, including, without limitation, alimony, equitable distribution, and counsel fees,’ the outlet reported

The Sun reported that Scalia had submit to the court a Marital Settlement Agreement this past July, ahead of the divorce filing.

Manzo, who revealed earlier this year she has lost 80 pounds, touched on the topic of her marital discord indirectly this past summer when a fan asked her on social media about where Scalia had been.

Manzo said that she was ‘allowed to keep aspects of [her] life private, especially after having a child,’ according to The Sun.

The Sun reported that ‘it appears the former couple still lives together in Wayne, New Jersey,’ as their addresses listed in divorced documents were identical.

The pair initially exchanged vows in June of 2015 at St. Cyril’s Church in New York City, followed by a reception at The Brownstone Restaurant in Paterson, New Jersey.

The proceedings were filmed and broadcast on Bravo.

Scalia addressed rumors of marital discord in January of 2018, telling Page Six that murmurs of a split had been ‘absolutely not true.’

He subsequently said in a Facebook post: ‘We just don’t put our relationship on social media and people can’t seem to understand that. We are perfect!!!!!!’

Scalia and Manzo initially crossed paths through Manzo’s brother Albie, who was a classmate of Scalia’s at Fordham University; and got engaged in November 2013.

Lauren is the daughter of former RHONJ star Caroline Manzo, and appeared on her spinoff Manzo’d with Children during its three-year run on Bravo from 2014 to 2016.
