Ian Somerhalder has no regrets about ditching Hollywood for farm life: ‘I don’t miss any of it’

Ian Somerhalder has no regrets about swapping the glitz and glamor of Hollywood for the good ol’ fashioned farm life.

The “Vampire Diaries” alum, 45, revealed that he and his wife, actress Nikki Reed, packed up their things and moved to a farm just outside of Los Angeles with their two children.

“I loved what I did for a really long time,” Somerhalder told E! News of his decision to step away from acting. “I don’t miss any of it. I love making films, and I just did it for so long. We had an amazing run.”

Speaking at Thursday’s Los Angeles premiere of “Common Ground” — a documentary that focuses on the need for sustainable and eco-friendly farming — Reed shared some insight into what life on the farm is like.

“When you see the way that nature operates, you find compassion,” the “Twilight” actress, 35, told the outlet.

“It’s a beautiful thing to see what’s happening with children, to watch them participate in the growing of their food and the understanding of what food is and where it comes from.”

The environment-themed documentary serves as a follow-up to the 2020 documentary “Kiss the Ground.”

“I started connecting the dots between what you do for the planet and what you do for yourself. It’s an evolution and a lifelong pursuit,” Reed told the outlet.

While he largely tends to keep his personal life private, Somerhalder spoke to E! News in November about his new lifestyle, which he admits takes “a lot of work.”

“It’s unbelievable when you see these amazing creature life forms and how they all live on the farm together is really special,” he told the outlet.
