When Premier League transfer deadline day signings will make their debuts

Deadline day is always a busy conclusion to the transfer window for Premier League clubs and supporters can now look forward to seeing their shiny new toys in action.

Clubs around England left it late to secure their top targets, with the likes of Sofyan Amrabat, Matheus Nunes and Brennan Johnson among those to have swapped sides just before the deadline came into effect.

Here’s when the Premier League’s most notable deadline day signings could make their debuts for their respective new clubs.

There was a scare for Manchester United over the international break as it was disclosed Sofyan Amrabat, who joined the club on an initial loan from Fiorentina, had been removed from the Morocco squad due to fitness concerns.

However, it’s looking increasingly likely that the midfielder will be ready to go this weekend as United host Brighton on Saturday afternoon and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Moroccan start the game given their midfield woes this season.

Sergio Reguilon, meanwhile, was signed as emergency cover at left-back with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both out injured. However, Diogo Dalot was excellent against Bukayo Saka two weeks ago and is likely to retain his place in the team. Thus, Reguilon might have to wait a little longer to make his United debut.

Tottenham were hoping to strike a couple of deals on deadline day, but they ended up just getting one through the door.

Spurs paid a premium price to sign Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest and he’ll be ready to go on Saturday as Sheffield United visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Ange Postecoglou will likely name an unchanged XI from the 5-2 thrashing of Burnley, but Johnson will almost certainly earn minutes off the bench.

Liverpool’s midfield revolution started brightly before drifting into a state of desperation. They eventually signed Wataru Endo to operate as their #6 but also added Ryan Gravenberch to their ranks on deadline day.

The Dutchman, though, is more likely to compete with fellow new arrivals Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai for a starting berth as opposed to Endo.

And while he’s spent the past two weeks on Merseyside after rejecting a call-up to the Netherlands’ Under-21s, it’s unlikely he’ll start at Wolves on Saturday barring an injury. He should earn minutes off the bench.

Deadline day arrival Matheus Nunes was an unused substitute as City beat Fulham 5-1 before the international break and they should have Pep Guardiola back in the dugout as they visit West Ham on Saturday afternoon.

Guardiola was undoubtedly instrumental in Nunes’ arrival given he waxed lyrical over the Portugal international during his time at Sporting CP and he’ll be keen to integrate his new midfielder as swiflty as possible.

A start at London Stadium seems unlikely but he could make his debut off the bench. Nunes could make the XI for City’s Champions League group stage opener against Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday night instead.

Ansu Fati‘s loan move to Brighton was one of the most stunning moves of the window, with the Spaniard’s arrival indicating just how far the Seagulls have come under Roberto De Zerbi.

If Fati can stay fit, he’ll be a major coup for Brighton, who boast an array of young and exciting attacking options. It’s not immediately obvious where Fati fits in given he’ll primarily be competing with the excellent Kaoru Mitoma down the left flank.

Nevertheless, while Fati may not start at Man Utd on Saturday, he’ll almost certainly make his Brighton debut this weekend.

Alex Iwobi enjoyed an impressive resurgence at Everton and he’s a player who could have an immediate impact at Fulham. He’s one of the few deadline day signings who could start for their new club this weekend.

Fulham host Luton on Saturday afternoon.

As for their other deadline day arrival, Fode Ballo-Toure; he was signed to provide defensive depth. He shouldn’t be expected to garner many Premier League minutes and his debut could arrive in the third round of the Carabao Cup against Norwich later this month.

Nottingham Forest were by far the busiest Premier League club on deadline day as they brought in seven players on the final day of the window, making use of the Brennan Johnson money.

Out of their seven late arrivals, Ibrahim Sangare and Callum Hudson-Odoi could both earn starts this weekend as they host Burnley on Monday night.

Nuno Tavares and Divock Origi provide depth in their respective positions but both should make their debuts at some point on Monday night. Nicolas Dominguez is a classy customer who could prove to be an excellent addition, but it’s unlikely Steve Cooper will start two new signings in midfield for such a significant bout.

Odysseas Vlachodimos has been brought in to provide competition for Matt Turner, but the American remains the club’s number one for now.
