Travis Scott is still facing huge lawsuits from the Astroworld tragedy in 2021. Even though he’s currently on a world tour, there’s been buzz that the fatal festival – or at least the financial repercussions from it – could significantly harm Travis’ music career.

Now, it appears the rapper is looking to make a career move in a completely new direction. Travis recently announced his plans to attend Harvard University to study architecture.

In an interview with GQ, which was published on Wednesday, November 15, Travis said that he wants to relocate to Boston to attend the Ivy League University. While it doesn’t appear he’s been officially accepted yet, Travis implied that he’s in the thick of the admissions process.

“I’m going to Harvard for architecture school,” he told the publication. “I got to work hard to get in. They’re not letting me take any shortcuts.”

When pressed on how serious he was about the plan, Travis revealed he’s already visited the campus. The father-of-two also gave a timeline for when he hopes to embark on the academic program, saying once his current Circus Maximus tour stops, he sees himself beginning.

“Well, I told myself after this album I was going to go in. So after the tour,” Travis explained.

Travis admitted: “It’d probably be like four years. I’m still going to make music, of course,” he continued, assuring fans that his college plans won’t interfere with new music.

As for why he’s interested in architecture and not something more related to his current career, Travis explained, “I’ve always been into structural design and structural engineering and, you know, trying to just build all different type of things, right?”

“When you start seeing how odd things can be shaped and then see how they can structurally work, it’s interesting. And I’m always trying to be like an ultimate problem solver,” he continued.

“A lot of things intrigue me. Like, I’m doing rehearsals now and I’m always asking questions about even just structural and staging and how it can be built,” Travis added.

Harvard University is known to be one of the most competitive schools in the world. “There is no minimum score or grade point average,” Harvard explains on its website. “A candidate’s complete background is taken into account in the admissions evaluation.”

Travis’ world tour began in October with a kick-off performance in North Carolina. It’ll conclude on January 31, with a performance in Orlando, Florida at the Amway Center.

While he may have his sights set on new career goals, Travis is still reportedly facing huge lawsuits from the Astroworld tragedy, which claimed multiple lives and injured hundreds after the crowd began surging when Travis took the stage at the festival in 2021, which he founded in his hometown of Austin, Texas years prior.

Various reports say that all the lawsuit against Travis and the other event organizers amount to over $1 billion in potential damages.

Even though Travis could be facing high legal bills once the dust settles in the Astroworld cases, he doesn’t seem worried about how it could impact his admissions chances to Harvard.

Interestingly, should he go to the school, Travis wouldn’t be the first person in the Kardashian-Jenner inner circle to be affiliated with the elite school. Kim Kardashian previously spoke at Harvard Business School, while Blac Chyna (who shares a daughter with Rob Kardashian) took a course from Harvard Business School.
