Morning Live host Kimberley Walsh has revealed she’s taking an extended break from the BBC programme. The 42-year-old took to her Instagram stories on Friday to tell her 793 thousand followers that she was taking a break from the show to prepare for the Girls Aloud reunion tour.

Alongside a series of pictures from her last day for a while, the singer penned: “Last @bbcmorninglive for a little while as I have some business to attend to. What a fab series so far and always love sharing the studio with so many incredible women (and Geth). Happy International Women’s Day.”

Kimberley’s fans rushed to the comments section to tell her how much they’re going to miss seeing her on their television screens. One person expressed: “Going to miss seeing you on the show (for now) but I’m so excited to see you girls on tour very soon.”

Somebody else wrote: “Amazing to see Girls Aloud back together. I’m looking forward to seeing you all on stage where you belong. Shine bright ladies. Congratulations on all your success @kimberleywalshofficial.”

Another Instagram user said: “Will miss seeing you on Morning Live, you are one of my favourite presenters with Gethin.” A fourth excited Girls Aloud fan added: “Kimberley back on tour. Girls Aloud whew whew!! So excited, love the outfit too. Fan from Wisconsin.”

Yet another penned: “Come on disco bunny, don’t be late to rehearsals,” while a sixth said: “This is very exciting.”

Kimberley is all set to reunite on stage with her Girls Aloud bandmates Cheryl, Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts for their hotly-anticipated reunion tour which kicks off in May.

The four ladies will tour the UK for two months, performing in cities including Manchester, Cardiff, Belfast and Dublin.

The foursome revealed the exciting news about their comeback in November, after sadly losing their late bandmate Sarah Harding to breast cancer in September 2021.

They wrote: “We’re so excited to announce that we will be touring the UK and Ireland in May and June 2024. A celebration of Sarah, our music and our incredible fans. We can’t wait to sing and dance with you all once again – Cheryl, Kimberley, Nadine and Nicola.”

Speaking ahead of the tour, Kimberley said the band want to commemorate their late bandmate Sarah and want to celebrate her with their fans.

She told British Vogue: “I think we channelled our grief into all the fundraising we did for The Sarah Harding Breast Cancer Appeal and that helped us a lot. And as tough as it will be, we want to give Sarah her moment on this tour. We need it. The fans need it. She needs it.”

Morning Live airs weekdays from 9.30am on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
