A man and a woman have died after being hit by a freight train in Sydney.
Emergency services were called to Berowra Railway Station, in the city’s north, after midnight on Friday following reports two people had been hit by a train.
The man, in his 20s, was helping the woman, in her 30s, move off the tracks when they were struck.

Their injuries were significant and, despite the best efforts of paramedics, they died on the scene.
They have not been formally identified.
Officers from Kuring Gai Police Area Command established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
