Shop Valentine’s Day flowers with these tips from a celebrity florist

Even the most booked-and-busy stars take time to smell the roses.

Just ask event planner and flower designer Lewis Miller, who curates show-stopping blooms for A-list clientele like Serena Williams and Beyoncé — the latter of whom once commissioned one of the expert’s most “memorable” arrangements of all time.

“It was a gift for her Long Island home, so we created something with lots of shades of blue,” he tells Page Six Style.

Now, with Valentine’s Day on the way, the flower pro’s instead reaching for “plum, burgundy, blush, taupes” and other “sexier, surprising” flower hues. (“Avoid [the] CVS color palette at all costs!” he quips).

So if you’re still searching for a sweet-smelling surprise for your sweetheart this year, read on for more of Lewis’ expert recommendations — and to shop similar blooms before delivery deadlines pass.

Pick the perfect peonies

If you’ve got love on the brain this Valentine’s Day, Miller recommends picking peonies for a significant other. Just be sure to keep colors in mind, as the flower pro advises against “red on red” arrangements.

Think beyond basic blooms

While everything’s typically coming up roses in February, Miller recommends opting for something that stands out from the rest. “Roses are so pedestrian and obvious for Valentine’s Day, and the quality is pretty lousy in February,” he says. “I’d much rather a cloud of pink sweet peas.”

“For Valentine’s Day, it’s nice to have something fragrant,” he adds.

No Valentine, no problem

Valentine’s Day isn’t just for romantic love — and if you’re celebrating a bestie this year, Miller lists anemones as a top choice for someone who’s “just a friend.”

Don’t count out dainty designs

Don’t underestimate the (flower) power of tiny blooms. “My motto: Bigger is not better,” says Miller. “A dainty small clutch of something exquisite is far superior to a big mess of ordinary.”

“Personally, I love flowers that grow and change, just like love grows and changes,” he added.
