Meghan Markle dons $168 Ralph Lauren shirt and $1,059 aviator sunglasses in selfie with TV host Jen Su and US socialite mother and daughter after group ‘ran into’ each other in LA

Meghan Markle proved her fashion prowess once again when stepping out and about in Los Angeles this week.

The Duchess of Sussex, 42, ‘ran into’ a TV host on Thursday night and posed for a selfie in a car park.

Opting for a laid-back California look, the Duchess of Sussex wore a Ralph Lauren oversized striped linen shirt, priced at $168, as well as a pair of $1,059 aviator sunglasses from British brand Linda Farrow.

Adding to her stylish ensemble, the beaming mother-of-two sported a smattering of glamorous makeup and kept her hair in a chic up-do.

Meghan shared the ‘super friendly’ chat and selfie in California with a pop star turned prominent TV journalist well-known for her red carpet work.

It came just hours after it was revealed that she and Prince Harry will head to New York for another royal-style engagement.

Meghan looked happy as she stood with the three women Thursday evening, with one saying the mother-of-two was ‘low key and super friendly’.

The selfie was with broadcaster Jen Su, a big name in South Africa on TV and radio who became famous after winning Taiwan Idols – a Taiwanese version of Pop Idol – and releasing four albums. Since then she has been a regular at celebrity events, reporting and appearing on the red carpet.

Ms Su shared the picture on Instagram, declaring: ‘Landed in LA and on our way to dinner, we ran into Meghan Markle. Totally low key and super friendly, nice conversation’.

Madison also shared the image with the tongue-in-cheek caption: ‘Which one is the real duchess?’

The meeting came shortly after it was announced that Meghan and Prince Harry will return to New York City in mid-October for Archewell’s mental health summit, the first ever in-person event for the foundation.

Multiple sources have claimed Meghan is about to announce a new project – insisting it is not a relaunch of her lifestyle blog The Tig. It comes after the Sussexes’ lucrative Spotify deal was dramatically pulled. Ms Markle has been much more visible on the LA scene recently, including two nights watching Beyonce.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be in the Big Apple on October 10 for the event, five months after their ‘near catastrophic car chase’ through the city.

The Archewell Foundation’s Parents’ Summit is aimed as helping families navigate children’s mental health and wellness in the digital age, PEOPLE reports.

The event has specifically invited parents who have experienced a loss due to or connected to their child’s social media use.

‘The families have been engaged with The Archewell Foundation for the past year, bolstering community and driving towards solutions,’ a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex told PEOPLE.

‘Together, they are united in their mission to share personal experiences, data, and research to ensure the same does not happen to other families,’ they said.

Meghan and Harry will also be joined by U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy to discuss mental health in a panel hosted by Carson Daly.

The pair – who are no strangers to advocacy work – were in New York in May for the Ms. Foundation Women of Vision Awards, where Meghan was honoured.

A statement from the Sussexes’ spokesperson called the incident a ‘near catastrophic car chase at the hands of a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi.’

The spokesman said the couple, as well as Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland, were the victims of a ‘relentless pursuit lasting more than two hours.’

It has been suggested that they were trying not to be followed to where they were staying on the Upper East Side of the city.

New York police subsequently told NBC that they did not believe the chase was ‘near catastrophic,’ however. They described it as a ‘bit of a chaotic scene’.

Julian Phillips, deputy commissioner of public information in New York also revealed that the NYPD ‘assisted’ the couple’s private security team.

New York Mayor Eric Adams expressed empathy – describing the actions of the paparazzi as ‘reckless’ and ‘irresponsible’ – but said he would find it ‘hard to believe’ there was a two-hour high speed chase.

It’s unclear how long Meghan and Prince Harry will be in New York City for their upcoming visit but they will be in town for World Mental Health Day on October 10.

According to PEOPLE, the couple will partake in a conservation about social media, mental health, and how to empower and uplift others.

The summit as a whole is part of Project Healthy Minds’ second annual World Mental Health Day Festival, which tackles the mental health crisis.

The topic is near and dear to Meghan and Prince Harry, who have been open and honest about their own mental health struggles in the past.

On the Archetypes podcast last October, the Duchess of Sussex discussed her own experience getting a referral to see a professional when she was at her ‘worst point.’

‘I think at my worst point, being finally connected to someone that, you know, my husband had found a referral for me to call. And I called this woman,’ Meghan said.

‘She didn’t know I was even calling her. And she was checking out at the grocery store. I could hear the little beep, beep, and I was like, ‘Hi,’ and I’m introducing myself and that you can literally you’re going, wait, sorry. I’m just. Who is this? Um, and saying I need help. And she could hear the dire state that I was in,’ Meghan said.

‘But I think it’s for all of us to be really honest about what it is that you need and to not be afraid to make peace with that, to ask for it,’ the Duchess of Sussex recalled.
