In 2008, she portrayed N in Channel 4’s adaptation of “Poppy Shakespeare.” She was nominated for a 2011 BAFTA TV Award for Best Actress for her performance as Sarah Burton in the BBC series “South Riding.” For her role as Julia in the sitcom “Motherland,” she was nominated for a BAFTA TV Award for Best Female Comedy Performance.

In 2019, she began filming the fifth season of BBC Two’s police procedural drama “Line of Duty.” Additionally, she portrayed DCS Patricia Carmichael. Later, she returned to the sixth season of “Line of Duty.” In 2021, she co-starred in the ITV drama series “Hollington Drive” alongside Rachael Stirling.

Additionally, she hosted the seventh episode of the sixty-third series of “Have I Got News for You” in 2022, alongside guests Chris McCausland and Steph McGovern, as well as team captains Paul Merton and Ian Hislop. Martin was cast as Delia Balmer in the ITV-commissioned true crime drama series “Delia Balmer” in February 2023.
