When they both worked at the Missouri’s Moberly Area Correctional Center, she first met Addie seven years previously. She was unaware that Addie was concealing the fact that he had been wed to another lady for 22 years.

Watson was discovered dead on a country road in Monroe County, Missouri, two days before their wedding. She had received a close-range shot to the back of the skull. After an inquiry, it was determined that Addie was the murderer and that her motive was to kill Watson before his double life was made public. He was found guilty of first-degree murder in April 2021 and given a life sentence with a 10-year minimum sentence in July.

Molly Watson: A loving and Creative Person

Tim and Sandi Watson of Huntsville, Missouri welcomed Molly Watson into the world on June 16, 1982. She had a sister named Heather who passed away in infancy and a brother named Timothy E. Watson III. In 2000, she received her diploma from Westran High School and enrolled at Moberly Area Community College.

Declan Davis Johnson, Watson’s son, was born in 2013. She cherished spending time with her family and her kid. Also she liked to sing, create costumes, and upload video journals on YouTube.

She met Addie in 2011 while working as a behavioral health technician at the Moberly Area Correctional Center. At the prison, Addie worked as a corrections officer. After meeting, they immediately began dating.

2012 saw the end of Molly Watson’s prior marriage to another man. Amber Brady, a former childhood friend, and she were romantically involved for about five years. Brady claimed that she found Watson cheating on her with Addie following their breakup.

She didn’t know that Melanie Addie, whom Addie married in 1996, was already his wife. Together, they had two kids. By lying to both of his families, Addie was able to keep his two families apart. While telling his wife that he worked long hours at the prison, he informed Watson that he resided in Mexico, Missouri, with his mother.

Molly Watson was looking forward to her wedding to Addie. She even purchased two wedding gowns. A marriage license in her name and Addie’s name had also been obtained. She was unaware that the day of her wedding would never arrive.

James Addie: A Cold-Blooded Killer

Ben and Mary Addie of Mexico, Missouri welcomed James Addie into the world on June 9, 1966. He entered the Missouri Department of Corrections in 1991 after earning his high school diploma from Mexico in 1984. At the Moberly Area Correctional Center, he spent 27 years as a prison officer.

Ben and Emily were born to Addie and Melanie Addie after their 1996 marriage. They were locals of Missouri’s Audrain County. Addie seemed to be a loving husband and father who put forth a lot of effort to support his family.

Addie, though, was living two lives. In 2011, he began dating Watson secretly after meeting her at the prison. He misled Watson about his marital status and where he lived. He also misled his wife about his travel plans and job schedule.

On April 29, 2018, Addie had meant to wed Watson, but Watson had no intention of divorcing his wife or being honest with her. Without them being aware of one another, he desired to be with both women.

Two days before the wedding, on April 27, 2018, Addie enticed Molly Watson to a remote area along Route M in Monroe County, Missouri. He used a.40 caliber handgun to shoot her in the back of the head before dropping her body on the highway. Then he sped off in his automobile.

Around 10:30 p.m., a bystander named Glen McSparren discovered Watson’s body and dialed 911. He claimed that she had lifeless eyes.

When the police arrived, they discovered the marriage license in Molly Watson’s car, which was close by. A shell box that matched the brand of bullets discovered at Addie’s house was also discovered.

Addie was taken into custody at his mother’s residence in Mexico, Missouri after the police tracked the car to him. He denied being involved in Molly Watson’s death at first, but he eventually admitted to killing her. In addition, he acknowledged lying to Watson for years and being married to another woman.

The Trial and The Verdict

He was accused of first-degree murder and armed criminal action, according to my research. He entered a not guilty plea, and his trial began in April 2021.

The prosecution provided evidence, such as the tire tracks, the shell casings, the gun, and the ammo, that connected Addie to the crime scene. They also demonstrated Addie’s motivation for killing Watson, which was to keep Watson from learning about his secret existence.

Given that Addie claimed Watson had knifed him during an argument, the defense contended that he was acting in self-defense. Additionally, they implied that Watson was suicidal and depressed and that she was the one who made Addie shoot Watson.

After nearly three hours of deliberation, the jury found Addie guilty on both charges. For both the murder charge and the armed criminal action charge, he received consecutive sentences of 10 years in prison and life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The verdict and sentencing were received with relief and satisfaction by Watson’s family and friends. They expressed their wish for Addie to pay for what he did to Watson by suffering.

Declan Watson, who was 8 years old during the trial, sent a letter to the judge that was read in front of the jury. He claimed to miss his mother and to wish she were still with him.

“I adore my mother dearly. He wrote, “She was my dearest buddy. I wished I could see her once again.

The legacy of Molly Watson

Her family, friends, and the community were all startled and grieved by Watson’s passing. She was recalled as a lovely, kind, and creative individual with a promising future.

Her son’s education and other costs will be covered through a memorial fund established in Watson’s honor by her family. On May 5, 2018, they also held a memorial ceremony for her at the Huntsville Christian Church.

The story of Watson was covered by a number of media outlets, including ABC 20/20, Oxygen, and Court TV. Her case also brought attention to the perils of internet dating and domestic violence.

Family and friends of Watson expressed their hope that others will be motivated by her tale to be cautious about who they trust and to seek help if they are in an abusive relationship.

They added that they hoped Watson’s son, who inherited both her grin and her enthusiasm, would carry on the legacy of his mother.
