Graham Potter not interested in Rangers job but Frank Lampard under consideration

Rangers have drawn up a list of candidates to replace manager Michael Beale, but former Chelsea boss Graham Potter has ruled himself out of the running, 90min understands.

The Rangers board, led by CEO and chairman John Bennett, are looking to replace Beale following his sacking over the weekend. He was in charge for just 10 months after he replaced Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who himself was at the helm for 12 months.

Potter was one of the first names that the club’s hierarchy reached out to, but it was made clear to them that he would not consider making the move to Scotland.

Another former Chelsea manager who is being considered by Rangers is Frank Lampard, who is out of work and understood to be willing to meet with the club to discuss the role.

Sources have confirmed to 90min that AZ Alkmaar head coach Pascal Jansen is under consideration and it is believed he would be keen to talk to the Scottish giants, but an issue with his potential arrival could be the compensation package that would need to be paid for his services.

Other candidates include two former Rangers players in the shape of Kevin Muscat and Derek McInnes.

Former Gers full-back Muscat is currently employed by Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan having succeeded Ange Postecoglou when he departed the club in 2021 to take charge of Celtic.

While Muscat remains under contract with Yokohama, any compensation would be minimal as his current deal is due to expire in January and this would not prove an issue to Rangers.

Likewise, compensation for McInnes – currently in charge at Kilmarnock – would not be a problem. The former midfielder is held in high regard at Ibrox despite the fact he turned down the chance to take charge of the club in 2017.

90min understands that former Monaco boss Philippe Clement has expressed an interest in the job, along with Bodo/Glimt coach Kjetil Knutsen and former Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder.
