Ivica began his football career in 1996 with the local team NK Marsonia, where he enjoyed two good seasons until signing with Hertha BSC in 1998. He didn’t play much there and returned to Marsonia the next season, where he helped his team win the Croatian Second League and get promoted to the first flight.

He moved to NK Zagreb in 2001, where he made 28 appearances and scored 21 goals to help his team win the championship. The following year, he switched teams and joined Dinamo Zagreb, where he scored 16 goals in 27 games and helped the club reach the top of Croatia’s First League.

Moscow’s CSKA

CSKA Moscow signed Olic in 2003. His play improved noticeably, as he scored ten goals in twice as many games during the 2005 season. With CSKA Moscow, he won the UEFA Cup in 2005, the Russian Super Cup twice (in 2004 and 2006), and the Russian Premier League three times (in 2003, 2005, and 2006).

SV Hamburger
