Janis Joplin launched two albums with the band earlier than going solo along with her personal backing bands, the Kozmic Blues Band after which the Full Tilt Boogie Band. Her cowl variations of “Piece of My Heart,” “Cry Baby,” “Down on Me,” “Ball and Chain,” “Summertime,” and her unique track “Mercedes Benz,” her last recording, are amongst her hottest songs.

Unfortunately, she died on the age of 27 on Sunday night, October 4, 1970, from heroin overdoses. “Pearl,” her second solo album, was launched in January 1971, simply over three months after she died.
