Jeremy Clarkson has shared his thoughts on Valentine’s Day and fumed that “women have hijacked” February 14 as the costs of gifts and restaurants “make men miserable”.

In his latest column for The Sunday Times, when the Clarkson’s Farm star was asked whether he was buying his girlfriend, Lisa Hogan anything special, he commented: “Pigs might fly.”

While Jeremy said there is nothing wrong with Valentine’s Day if two people just want to spend the evening “demonstrating their love for each other”.

“But it isn’t, because the whole thing has been completely hijacked by women,” The Grand Tour star fumed. “That’s why it has to be a fancy restaurant and stupid scented candles in the bathroom later.

“As you may have gathered, I will not be doing anything special on Wednesday, and luckily I share my life with someone who wouldn’t want to. The very idea makes a little bit of sick go into her mouth.”

Jeremy went on to explain he and Lisa will be “knee-deep in mud and dung” as they will be mucking out the cows on February 14.

“I wouldn’t want to swap it for all the pinkness on Moonpig,” he added.

The TV host went on to joke about how many people would be spending the day, he continued: “Walk into the poshest Harvester in your area on Wednesday evening and look at all the men, sitting there in their too-small jackets, sweating at the prices and wondering if they could get away with ordering an olive and a small glass of tap water.

“And then trying not to actually soil themselves when their girlfriend or wife asks for a glass of champagne.”

Jeremy has been dating his girlfriend Lisa since 2017 and she often appears on his Amazon Prime series, Clarkson’s Farm.

The pair were reportedly set up by mutual friends after meeting at a party and have been together ever since.

Lisa often shares day-to-day updates about filming for Clarkson’s Farm as well as behind-the-scenes snaps of Diddly Squat Farm.

In her most recent post, she shared a snap of Jeremy and his co-star Kaleb Cooper along with the caption: “Plotting S4.”

Amazon Prime has also shared an update for series three. A synopsis for the farming programme reads: “The third series of Clarkson’s Farm finds Diddly Squat facing some seriously daunting challenges.

“The crops are failing in the severe hot weather, inflation has driven prices of supplies sky high, dreams for the beloved restaurant are dashed and now the farm shop also faces closure.

“Jeremy urgently needs to come up with creative new ways of making ends meet, so hatches a plan to turn a profit from hundreds of acres of unfarmed land – thick woodland and hedgerows that make up half of Diddly Squat.

“This triggers an avalanche of Clarkson-crafted schemes, involving everything from goats and pigs to mushrooms, nettles and deer.

“Someone new arrives to Diddly Squat, which puts Kaleb’s nose out of joint – as well as the returning characters all working to help Jeremy’s farming ambitions come to fruition.”

Clarkson’s Farm returns to Amazon Prime Video on May 3.
