Kanye West reacts to Instagram restriction amid anti-Semitic post

Kanye West returned to Twitter Saturday after discovering that Instagram placed restrictions on his account amid an allegedly anti-Semitic post.

“Look at this Mark How you gone kick me off instagram,” he wrote in part, directly calling out Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook and its parent company Meta Platforms.

“Who you think created cancel culture?” West, 45, added in another tweet posted hours later.

West’s account was restricted Friday night after he shared a since-deleted screenshot of an iMessage exchange with Sean Love Combs, aka P. Diddy.

When Diddy, 52, asked West to “stop playing these internet games” amid his latest series of IG rants, the rapper responded, “This ain’t a game,” before continuing, “Ima use you as an example to show the Jewish people that told you to call me that no one can threaten or influence me.”

A Meta spokesperson then released a statement to CNN Business on Saturday, explaining that West’s post was deleted for “violating the company’s policies and a restriction was placed on his account.” However, per CNN, it did not specify “what was objectionable about the content or what kind of restriction was imposed.”

In the wake of discovering his Instagram account was limited, West returned to Twitter for the first time since November 2020.

“Welcome back to Twitter, my friend!” Elon Musk, who has been mulling over whether to commit to buying the social media monolith since spring, declared in a tweet tagging @kanyewest, who subsequently retweeted the note.

West also wasted no time testing the limits of Twitter’s tolerance for his antics, having posted at least one tweet that’s already been deleted as it “violated the rules of Twitter.”

Per Variety, West “claimed that he couldn’t be antisemitic and said he had been ‘toyed with’ by the Jewish people.”

Ye has previously weathered an Instagram ban, earning himself a 24-hour suspension back in March following an attack on comedian Trevor Noah that, according to a Meta spokesperson, violated the company’s policies on hate speech, bullying and harassment.

Still, the Yeezy designer – who is also facing backlash for his “White Lives Matter” T-shirts – isn’t one to back down from his actions.

“When I have techniques that are revolutionary, if I raise my voice on Instagram, it’s a colonic and people can say, ‘Oh this what you’re doing is toxic,’” West said in a Friday night interview with Tucker Carlson.

“I gotta do everything to get it out of my body and there will be times that I see a level of oppression and I’ll be like, ‘I’m not going to let you guys kill me.’”
