Simone Biles reacts to her husband saying he’s more of a ‘catch’ than Olympian wife

Simone Biles is standing by her husband, Jonathan Owens, after his comment about being more of a “catch” than the 4-time Olympic champ sent fans reeling.

“🤞🏾💋 for life,” she wrote beneath the Green Bay Packers player’s Instagram post Friday, echoing his sentiment that he and his gymnast wife are “unbothered” by all the backlash.

“Just know we locked in over here 🤞🏽,” Owens added alongside a series of snaps of the two.

Biles also took to her own Instagram after the blowup to post a loving photo from their wedding day.

“Mood,” the Olympian captioned a pic of them making smug faces.

Owens originally caught flack after claiming on the couple’s recent joint appearance on the “Pivot” podcast that he was the prize to win in their relationship.

Elsewhere in the interview, Owens also claimed that he didn’t know who Biles was before meeting her.

“I’m like, ‘Lemme see who this is.’ I never really paid attention to gymnastics, so it piqued my curiosity,” the football safety said.

“The first thing that I saw was that she just had a bunch of [Instagram] followers. So in my mind, I’m like, ‘OK, she’s gotta be good.’”

Reacting to the controversial interview, one fan tweeted, “The interview with Simone Biles and her husband Jonathan Owens is SO embarrassing. I can’t believe she let him talk about their relationship like that 🚩🚩.”

“if everyone calling you@Simone_Biles’ husband… you are not the catch,” a second wrote, while a third quipped, “I had to google Jonathan Owens but I did not have to google Simone Biles.”

Some people, however, noted Biles’ public defense of her husband and said they think the online vitriol needs to end.

“People don’t have to like what he said, but to put down their relationship WHEN SHE HERSELF doesn’t have a problem with it… maybe just let them live and judge in silence if you must,” one wrote.

Another tweeted that the two athletes are “clearly happy together” and are allowed to “joke about how they met.”

“… leave it to total strangers on here to get irrationally invested and upset over his comments about their relationship,” the social media user added.

Biles, 26, and Owens, 28, went public with their relationship in August 2020 and tied the knot nearly three years later in a Houston courthouse.

In May, the pair had an intimate ceremony amongst close friends and family in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
