Britney Spears Refuses In-Person Communication, Only Wants To Email As Fans Worry For Her Well-Being

Highlights

  • Britney Spears chooses to speak to the media on her terms, often opting for email interviews to control her responses.
  • Despite sparking concerns on social media with her posts, Britney remains guarded about her ongoing divorce from Sam Asghari.
  • Sam Asghari, Britney’s ex-husband, refuses to speak negatively about her despite their marriage ending, emphasizing positive reflection.

Britney Spears is making it clear she’ll choose how and when she’s comfortable talking to the media. While the singer isn’t afraid to let it all hang loose on social media – literally – it appears she’s not as open when it comes to media interviews.

According to a new report, there’s a reason Britney seldom does interviews, and when she does, they’re seldom with a photoshoot or filmed portion. Apparently, the former Disney star will only do interviews via email as opposed to in-person.

“She’s a free woman. She’ll decide. It’s her choice,” a source told Express, explaining Britney’s complicated history with the press is the reason for her hesitation. “They have not been fair to Britney.”

While Spears gave an interview to PEOPLE last October to promote her new memoir, The Woman in Me, she only answered questions through email, so she had more control over her responses.

Despite reports that Britney wants to write a second memoir (with an emphasis on her ongoing divorce from Sam Asghari), the singer hasn’t given any other interviews to promote her writing, rather opting to mostly speak directly to fans through her online accounts.

Though Britney is very active on social media, she’s caused various concerns through some of her posts,
including when she shared a video dancing with knives
, which apparently sparked a police visit.

In a similarly concerning fashion, Britney stirred a fuss online after posting a video while driving, which is illegal to do in California. But it’s unclear if the “Toxic” hitmaker ever faced the consequences for the controversial video.

One thing Britney has been careful to speak about is her break-up from Sam Asghari, likely because their divorce proceedings remain ongoing. The former fitness trainer filed for divorce in August after 14 months of marriage. While reports say Sam may not be entitled to any financial compensation, given the terms of their prenup, there have also been claims he’s trying to get more money out of Britney (though Sam has directly denied the accusations).

While the Iranian native hasn’t commented on his wife’s concerning social media posts, Sam recently emphasized that he’ll never talk poorly about Britney, no matter how their marriage ended.

“I’ve always hated people leaving a certain relationship — and at some point they told each other they love each other and they sat at the same table and ate food [together] — so I never understood when people part ways [and] they talk badly about each other,” the 29-year old told PEOPLE earlier this month. “That’s something I’m never going to do because I had nothing but an amazing experience and a great life, and that’s always going to be part of my life, a chapter of my life.”

He also said he reflects on his marriage to Britney “positively,” though it was marred with allegations of domestic abuse and cheating. “I always have the most positive mindset about life,” Sam went on. “My experiences in life have shaped me into the man I am today. I will continue growing. I come from a place where we celebrate our past. I look back fondly. My past was a blessing and beautiful.”

Sam and Britney’s divorce remains ongoing.
