Why Prince William and Kate Middleton’s three children didn’t visit her in the hospital: report

Kate Middleton wasn’t kidding when she said she wanted to “maintain as much normality for her children as possible” amid her health issues.

Middleton, 42, was released from the hospital on Monday after spending nearly two weeks recovering from a “planned” abdominal surgery — yet her three children didn’t make any visits to the London Clinic during her stay.

A source told Entertainment Tonight on Wednesday that Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, did not go see their mother because the couple wanted to make sure their “routine wasn’t disrupted.”

Middleton and husband Prince William reportedly decided it was best to “shield” their children “to prevent worry.”

Despite not seeing Middleton in person, an insider told us Tuesday that the young royals are believed to have FaceTimed their mom while she was away.

They also noted that Middleton is “thrilled” to be back at Adelaide Cottage with her children and husband, who has reportedly “temporarily stepped back from his royal duties in order to care for his wife,” per ET.

Although Middleton’s children didn’t stop by her hospital room, her father-in-law, King Charles, did pay her a visit last week.

The monarch reportedly stopped by his daughter-in-law’s room shortly after he was admitted for his own surgery to treat an enlarged prostate, which all went according to plan.

However, we’re told it wasn’t just the little ones who were kept in the dark about Middleton’s procedure, which the palace has yet to share many details about.

Sources say that even Middleton’s closest aides did not know what exactly was wrong, as the Prince and Princess of Wales wanted to protect her privacy.

Similarly, People reported last week that there “had been no indication that anything was wrong” with Middleton, 42, prior to her hospitalization on Jan. 16.

News of her going under the knife reportedly “came as a surprise” to those around her — including all the people who “work closely” with the royal couple.

Earlier this month, Kensington Palace revealed that Middleton underwent a “successful” abdominal surgery and would be taking a break from public engagements until after Easter.

Although they noted that Middleton “appreciates the interest” in her health, they added “she hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.”
