Dave Bautista Loved Working With Austin Butler, And Was Shocked At How Interested Austin Was About His Career

You gotta love Dave Bautista, who is the definition of a gentle giant behind the screen. There isn’t a single actor that has a bad thing to say about Dave, and that’s also true for his Dune: Part Two co-star, Austin Butler. Dave discussed what it was like working with the actor and, as expected, it was a joy on both sides.

Dave revealed, “I love Austin so much. I had a lot of conversations with Austin even before we started acting together. I found it really comforting that he was so interested in me, and in my background.”

Due to their connection made prior to the film, Dave revealed that working with Butler was absolutely effortless on-set.

“By the time we made it to set together, it was effortless. I was so comfortable and he’s so talented. It is just the best of all worlds. When you’re lucky enough to be guided by a guy like Denis, and to have someone so talented that you get to bounce off of. And then you get the environment created for us, you couldn’t want anything more.”

Dave concludes, “He was lost in it, so it allowed me to be lost in it as well.”

Timothee revealed, “Dave Bautista, who had also worked on Blade Runner 2049, was working on Dune as well, playing Glossu Rabban. But coming into his trailer, I grew up a massive WWE fan, and I never met Bautista, let alone Bautista without his WWE trunks on, let alone Bautista, the real human!”

The praise didn’t stop there, as Chalamet was also thrilled about Dave’s work ethic on the set of Dune.

“His excitement being there, having already worked with Denis — when you see an actor that’s already worked with a director and is more humbled than ever, and is more excited to be there than ever … for me, it just kind of set the bar on these kinds of movies. It was inspiring. And it was inspiring from the actor that Battista was, in getting to play a Harkonnen.”

He continues, “Knowing that this is a guy I grew up with who was kicking ass on TV every Friday night. Going to work with him was a real joy, to me.”
