Shameless lasted a decade and Jeremy Allen White took part in all 134 episodes. The show was highly popular among its fanbase. However, creatively, Jeremy Allen White’s mood was starting to shift. The actor admitted he was in an upsetting headspace after the show came to an end.

“I love Shameless so much. I love everybody that was a part of it, and the experience was incredible. But I’m not sure if shows are meant to go that long.”

The actor continues, “There was a period where I stopped feeling like an actor and I started feeling like I was just here to do this show,” he said. “It was an upsetting head space to be in. When it was going to end, I was questioning: Maybe I do just exist on this show. What else is there? Am I an actor? I was definitely having a lot of doubt.”

I started on the show when I was 23 and now I’m not. [Laughs.] And it’s a wonderful, wonderful amount of time and I feel incredibly proud of everything we have created. I’m just filled with gratitude for everyone’s hard work.”

“I think that was something Carmy was really struggling with, too,” he explained. “We kind of found each other at a similar place. He knew he’s really gifted at this thing, but he could be painfully insecure about his abilities as well. I was feeling a little insecure at the end, too.”

“The beautiful cast and beautiful crew I get to share a space and stage with. My parents. I love you, thank you for your support.”

White also thanked his friends for staying close to him during his tough times last year, referencing his divorce.

“Thank you to all those who have stayed close to me, especially in this past year, you know who you are. Thank you for believing in me when I had trouble believing in myself. I love you. And Ezer and Dolores, I love you so much. This is for you.”

Quite a turnaround for the actor in recent years.
