Barcelona predicted lineup vs Mallorca – La Liga

Michel’s high-flying Girona are the only team keeping pace with Barcelona in La Liga right now.

Xavi’s Blaugrana looked for all money to succumb to their first defeat of the campaign when they fell to a 2-0 deficit to Celta Vigo on Saturday, but a stunning late comeback ensured they walked away with all three points.

The feeling surrounding the Catalans right now is effusively positive, and they’re back in domestic action on Tuesday night against an insipid Mallorca outfit.

Here’s the starting lineup Xavi could pick for Barca’s trip to the Balearics.

GK: Marc-Andre ter Stegen – It’s almost a surprise every time the German concedes given the form he’s displayed in recent times. But Celta breached the goal twice on Saturday and still didn’t walk away with all three points.

RB: Joao Cancelo – The unicorn full-back has enjoyed a wonderful start at Barcelona, and he proved to be the match-winner on Saturday.

CB: Jules Kounde – Xavi now has a wealth of centre-back options at his disposal, and he could opt for any of the four senior options that are available for Tuesday’s game.

CB: Ronald Araujo – Araujo made just his second appearance of the season at the weekend as he was utilised off the bench after recovering from injury. He could make his first start of the campaign since the opening weekend in Mallorca.

LB: Alejandro Balde – Barca desperately missed Balde’s attacking exuberance on Saturday with Marcos Alonso offering very little. He’s a shoo-in to start.

DM: Oriol Romeu – With Frenkie de Jong set for a spell on the sidelines, Romeu has a big role to play in Xavi’s midfield for the next few weeks.

CM: Gavi – The Spaniard played a key role in Barca’s comeback from a creative perspective and Frenkie de Jong’s injury absence renders him a certainty to start in midweek.

CM: Ilkay Gundogan – The reliable German should retain his place in the team. Gundogan is crucial for Barca’s midfield balance.

RW: Raphinha – Xavi opted for Ferran Torres down the right against Celta which means Raphinha should get the nod here after impressing in Barca’s Champions League win over Royal Antwerp.

ST: Robert Lewandowski – The inevitable Pole scored twice to inspire victory at the weekend and it’s clear that he’s found his groove after a slow start to the campaign.

LW: Joao Felix – Xavi could rotate down the left flank, but there isn’t an obvious replacement for Felix.
