Barcelona predicted lineup vs Osasuna

Barcelona will look to produce more entertaining football when they visit Osasuna on Sunday for the final match in La Liga before September’s international break.

Xavi’s side have managed seven points from their first three games, sitting just behind leaders Real Madrid, and totted up four goals in their latest victory against Villarreal. The Catalan outfit have some pressing availability concerns for their upcoming trip to Pamplona.

Here’s the side Barca could deploy on Sunday night.

Lamine Yamal

GK: Marc-Andre ter Stegen – Remains Barca’s first choice goalie, a role he has held down since 2014.

RB: Sergi Roberto – The club captain could continue at right-back though Barca’s interest in Joao Cancelo could see Roberto forced back into midfield in the future.

CB: Jules Kounde – Barca can’t be totally against all outgoing transfers given their horrible financial situation but Xavi has been clear throughout the summer that Kounde would stay. Has started the season well in Ronald Araujo’s absence.

CB: Andreas Christensen – Came off at half-time in the 4-3 win at Villarreal and will hope to have recovered by Sunday. Eric Garcia may start if not.

LB: Alejandro Balde – Marcos Alonso was registered and played in the last game as Balde nursed a knock. The youngster should come back in.

CM: Oriol Romeu – Will hope to add a bit more balance after a performance that saw Barca ship three goals last time out.

CM: Frenkie de Jong – Contrastingly, De Jong was excellent in midfield at Villarreal, scoring Barca’s second and completing 87 of his 93 passes.

AM: Ilkay Gundogan – Hailed by Xavi as a ‘cornerstone’ in this new-look Barca team, Gundogan grabbed his first assist for the club by setting up Pedri against Cadiz.

RW: Lamine Yamal – 16-year-old Yamal has already been called into Spain’s senior squad. Barcelona must be ultra cautious not to burn the teenager out so early, as Ansu Fati and Pedri have both struggled in recent years as a result of being overworked at a young age.

ST: Robert Lewandowski – Got off the mark for the new La Liga season last time out but has already made his frustrations with Barca’s attacking play clear.

LW: Gavi – Gavi is only 19 himself but has totted up 21 appearances for La Roja at international level since his Barca debut in 2021.
