Chiefs coach Andy Reid jokes Travis Kelce ‘tested’ his hip when he shoved him during Super Bowl 2024

Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid laughed off Travis Kelce shoving him during Super Bowl 2024 after his team won the big game.

“He keeps me young,” Reid said with a chuckle during a post-game interview with CBS alongside his wife, Tammy, after the Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime.

“Not so good [balance] — he tested that hip out. He caught me off-balance,” Reid, 65, continued.

“Normally I get him a little bit, but I didn’t have any feet under me.”

Reid reiterated that there were no hard feelings following the tense moment, telling reporters, “He loves to play the game and he loves to help his team win. It’s not a selfish thing.”

He added, “As much he bumps into me, I get after him. We understand that.”

The tight end, 34, also tried to laugh off the irate moment, joking with reporters, “Ah, you guys saw that? I’m a keep that between us unless my mic’d up tells the world.

“I was just telling him how much I love him.”

Kelce also grew emotional during the post-game press conference as he described how he owes his “career” to Reid.

Kelce slammed his body into Reid, who momentarily lost his balance, before grabbing his arm and shouting at him.

Chiefs teammate Jerick McKinnon quickly dragged him away from Reid.

A source close to Kelce later brushed aside any real animosity between the coach and his player.

“He’s just a passionate player and everyone’s on edge. It’s the Super Bowl! But there was no mal intent,” an insider later shared with Page Six of the heated interaction. John Angelillo/UPI/Shutterstock

“He’s just a passionate player and everyone’s on edge. It’s the Super Bowl! But there was no mal intent,” the insider shared.

“He respects Coach Reid. It’s really just about the passion of the game. It wasn’t anything serious.”

All feelings of exasperation and vexation melted away the moment the Chiefs won the Lombardi Trophy and Kelce was swarmed by his family and his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, who smothered him with hugs and kisses.
