Liverpool predicted lineup vs Brighton – Premier League

Liverpool will hope to end things on a positive note when they visit Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League before the October international break.

The Reds weren’t at their fluid best on Thursday night as a much-changed team beat Union Saint-Gilloise after a week filled with VAR analysis and calls for replays in the wake of the unjust 2-1 defeat to Tottenham.

Cody Gakpo suffered a knee injury in that game while Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota were both sent off and unavailable for Sunday’s trip to the seaside.

Here’s the team manager Jurgen Klopp could deploy at Brighton with his side currently fourth in the Premier League.

GK: Alisson Becker – Got a runout in the Europa League due to Caoimhin Kelleher’s injury, his first appearance in the competition for Liverpool.

RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold – Joe Gomez has lined up at right-back during Alexander-Arnold’s injury absence but he may return to the league XI after starting against Union Saint-Gilloise, where he captained the side.

CB: Joel Matip – Scored the own goal that gave Spurs all three points, that ruining an otherwise brilliant performance from the former Schalke defender.

CB: Virgil van Dijk – The Dutchman looked more like his imperious self in repelling attack after attack against Tottenham, also getting the assist for Gakpo’s equaliser.

LB: Andy Robertson – Alexander-Arnold and Robertson are famed for their assist numbers though the Scotland international is still looking for his first of the league season.

CM: Dominik Szoboszlai – No player has covered more ground in the Premier League than Szoboszlai’s 83.6km. That’s a lot of running.

CM: Alexis Mac Allister – Managed to avoid scrapping with his brother Kevin during Thursday night’s Europa League action.

CM: Ryan Gravenberch – The summer signing from Bayern Munich could earn his first league start for Liverpool with Jones out suspended, just days after netting his first Reds goal.

RW: Mohamed Salah – Looked fairly restrained in the loss to Spurs but remains Liverpool’s biggest threat in the final third in both a creative and finishing sense.

ST: Darwin Nunez – Gakpo’s injury and Jota’s suspension means Nunez will surely get his third league start this season. Has three goals so far, including two in the comeback win at Newcastle.

LW: Luis Diaz – Would have ended a run of four games without a league goal had his strike at Tottenham not wrongly been chalked off. Instead, it’s up to five matches.
