Liverpool vs Man Utd – Premier League: TV channel, team news, lineups and prediction

One of the biggest games in the Premier League calendar takes place on Sunday when Manchester United head to Anfield to take on Liverpool.

Liverpool wrapped up their Europa League group stage campaign with a dead-rubber defeat to Union Saint-Gilloise but will be aiming to end the weekend where they started it; at the top of the Premier League table.

Having been knocked out of Europe entirely, the Red Devils badly need to offer some sort of reaction to stop the pressure building on Erik ten Hag.

This fixture has brought nothing but pain for Man Utd fans in recent memory, with the Reds often winning and usually by a healthy scoreline. Last season’s 7-0 defeat was arguably the lowest point of Ten Hag’s reign as manager so far.

Here’s all you need to know about Liverpool vs Man Utd in the Premier League this weekend.

Almost every top side has had injuries to deal with this season and Liverpool are no different, although the situation has not been as severe as their opponents on Sunday. For this match at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp will be without six players.

Joel Matip, Stefan Bajcetic, Andy Robertson, Alexis Mac Allister, Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota are all absent. However, Klopp was able to rest most of his best players against Union Saint-Gilloise on Thursday night as they were already assured of top spot in their Europa League group.

Liverpool predicted lineup vs Manchester United (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Szoboszlai, Endo, Gravenberch; Salah, Nunez, Diaz.

Man Utd saw more players get injured during their Champions League clash with Bayern Munich as would-be starters Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw both limped off at Old Trafford. Maguire has been ruled out but Shaw has a chance of featuring.

Captain Bruno Fernandes is suspended for yellow card accumulation, adding to Ten Hag’s absentee list which comprises Jadon Sancho, Amad Diallo, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia, Victor Lindelof, Anthony Martial and Mason Mount.

Marcus Rashford missed the midweek loss through illness but is available again.

Manchester United predicted lineup vs Liverpool (4-3-3): Onana; Wan-Bissaka, Evans, Varane, Shaw; McTominay, Amrabat, Mainoo; Antony, Hojlund, Rashford.

Even if Man Utd had their full squad available, Liverpool would still be the clear favourites to get all three points here just because they have the Red Devils’ number at Anfield. They are in great form right now, look confident and are just a better team.

Chuck in that long list of Man Utd absences and it feels like they are arriving on Merseyside three goals down. It would take an incredibly out-of-character performance from both sides for this to go the way of Ten Hag’s side.

Maybe this time, Man Utd can stop it from getting too embarrassing.

Prediction: Liverpool 3-0 Manchester United
