Bayern Munich vs Borussia Monchengladbach – Bundesliga: TV channel, team news, lineups and prediction

Bayern Munich have the chance to move top of the Bundesliga this weekend if Bayer Leverkusen drop points against Darmstadt when they take on Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday.

Thomas Tuchel’s side moved within two points of the league leaders last weekend thanks to their win away at Augsburg and Leverkusen’s surprising 0-0 draw at home to Monchengladbach, but that result proves Bayern cannot take three points for granted here.

There is always an immense amount of focus on Bayern when they are not sitting at the top of the table and they may be quietly hoping the links between Xabi Alonso and Liverpool derail Leverkusen in the second half of the campaign.

Here’s all you need to know about Bayern Munich vs Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga.

Bayern‘s absentee situation is reaching incredibly concerning levels, with a whole host of usual starters unavailable for manager Tuchel.

The latest to pick up a serious injury is Kingsley Coman, who went off against Augsburg, a game Dayot Upamecano, Joshua Kimmich and Konrad Laimer also missed.

Serge Gnabry is still out of action, while Kim Min-jae is at the Asian Cup. Noussair Mazraoui could be chucked straight back in at right-back as Morocco are out of the Africa Cup of Nations, but new signing Sacha Boey may recover from the flu in time to play.

The club have just signed winger Bryan Zaragoza from Granada and he may have to play straight away, given the number of attackers out injured. Tuchel himself could miss the game due to flu.

Bayern Munich predicted lineup vs Borussia Monchengladbach (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Boey, De Ligt, Dier, Davies; Pavlovic, Goretzka; Sane, Musiala, Tel; Kane.

Monchengladbach aren’t faring much better in the fitness department, with injuries resulting in a really tough season so far. Ko Itakura is at the Asian Cup with Japan, while players like Tomas Cvancara, Robin Hack, Patrick Herrmann, Lukas Ullrich, Jonas Omlin and Hannes Wolf are all expected to be absent.

There is a chance Maximilian Wober makes his way back from illness in time to face Bayern, but they are expected to field the same team that got a good point away at Leverkusen last weekend.

Borussia Monchengladbach predicted lineup vs Bayern Munich (5-3-2): Nicolas; Honorat, Scally, Friedrich, Elvedi, Netz; Kone, Weigl, Neuhaus; Siebatcheu, Hack.

The away side showed against Leverkusen they know how to dig in and make things difficult for the best teams in the Bundesliga, but can they do it again a week later?

It takes a huge amount of effort and concentration to keep Bayern out at the Allianz Arena, even with their huge list of injuries. The likes of Jamal Musiala, Leroy Sane and Harry Kane will still be on the pitch, so Bayern should be able to breach the Monchengladbach defence and get the three points.

Prediction: Bayern Munich 2-0 Borussia Monchengladbach
