Getafe vs Real Madrid – La Liga: TV channel, team news, lineups and prediction

After edging past Las Palmas on Saturday, Real Madrid have another tricky away trip to Getafe on Thursday night.

Madrid fell 1-0 behind on the Canary Islands at the weekend, but goals from Vinicius Junior and substitute Aurelien Tchouameni saw Carlo Ancelotti’s side snatch all three points. However, Girona’s subsequent victory at Celta Vigo means the capital club are still hunting down Michel’s La Liga leaders. Although, a point against Getafe would be enough to take Madrid above Girona.

Getafe, meanwhile, sit firmly in mid-table and have an outside shot of competing for a European berth. Jose Bordalas’ side are spiky opponents – boasting the worst disciplinary record in the league – but Madrid have dominated the head-to-head duel in modern times, winning 25 of the previous 29 meetings.

Here’s 90min’s preview of Real Madrid‘s upcoming La Liga clash.

The hosts have few concerns on the injury front compared to their upcoming visitors. However, debutant Yellu Santiago was forced off with a fitness concern towards the end of Getafe’s 2-0 victory over Granada on Monday night.

Mauro Arambarri is Getafe’s only other notable absentee, and he’s out for the season with a devastating knee injury.

Former Manchester United winger Mason Greenwood and ex-Madrid striker Borja Mayoral are both likely to be in Thursday’s lineup.

Getafe predicted lineup vs Real Madrid (4-4-2): Soria; Iglesias, Djene, Alderete, Rico; Greenwood, Maksimovic, Alvarez, Martin; Mayoral, Mata.

The visitors have no fresh injury concerns from the weekend’s triumph, but Ancelotti is expected to make a couple of changes to his starting lineup.

Match-winner Tchouameni could come back into the team alongside Federico Valverde, Jude Bellingham, Ferland Mendy and Luka Modric. Joselu could also be favoured over Rodrygo up top.

David Alaba and Eder Militao are long-term absentees but there is hope that goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois could return from his ACL injury before the end of the season.

Real Madrid predicted lineup vs Getafe (4-3-1-2): Lunin; Carvajal, Rudiger, Nacho, Mendy; Tchouameni, Modric, Valverde; Bellingham; Vinicius, Joselu.

This is a classic Bordelas-led Getafe side and Madrid will be pleased they’re getting this fixture out of the way before the run-in. The capital giants have reigned supreme over their neighbours in recent times, but the upcoming duel is set to be a gritty battle.

The visitors, though, are courageous and simply never know when they’re beaten. They’ll have lumps kicked out of them in midweek, but Ancelotti’s men won’t be deterred. This is their chance to climb to the top of La Liga, and they should to take it.

Prediction: Getafe 1-2 Real Madrid
