Everton vs Tottenham – Premier League: TV channel, team news, lineups and prediction

The first game of the Premier League weekend sees Tottenham Hotspur travel to Goodison Park where they take on Everton.

The Toffees slipped into the bottom three thanks to Luton’s win at home to Brighton in midweek, and suddenly relegation fears are starting to set in for Sean Dyche’s side again. They have failed to win their last five league games, and it will take a big performance to get three points on Saturday.

Tottenham are back where they want to be following a 3-2 win at home to Brentford in midweek, sitting in fourth. Things can change very quickly, but Ange Postecoglou will be confident that his team has enough to beat a goal-shy Everton side.

Here is all you need to know about Everton’s Premier League meeting with Tottenham this weekend.

Everton are expected to be without Arnaut Danjuma against Tottenham, the team that the Dutchman used to play for. He picked up an ankle injury late on against Fulham and it doesn’t look like a quick fix.

Dele Alli will also miss the chance to play against the club where he made his name thanks to groin surgery. Midfielders Andre Gomes and Abdoulaye Doucoure are both out, but Everton could welcome the experienced Seamus Coleman back.

Those midfield absences are not too pronounced because Amadou Onana should shake off a small injury and play, while Idrissa Gueye is back from the African Cup of Nations due to Senegal’s elimination.

Everton predicted lineup vs Tottenham (4-5-1): Pickford; Patterson, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Harrison, Onana, Garner, Gueye, McNeil; Calvert-Lewin.

Senegal’s defeat also means that Pape Matar Sarr should be back for Tottenham which is a big boost to the midfield and he will likely take Oliver Skipp’s place. Mali are still at AFCON so Yves Bissouma remains out. South Korea’s Asian Cup successes also mean Son Heung-min is absent.

The usual suspects of Manor Solomon, Alejo Veliz, Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon are out injured. There are decisions for Postecoglou to make after Brennan Johnson’s impressive display off the bench against Brentford. James Maddison seemed to have an issue at the end of that game but it is not thought to be serious.

Tottenham predicted lineup vs Everton (4-2-3-1): Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Sarr, Bentancur; Kulusevski, Maddison, Werner; Richarlison.

At a slightly earlier stage of the season, this would have been billed as a significantly closer match. Everton’s form has suffered in recent weeks, while Tottenham are reaping the rewards of getting key players back from injury.

Goals seem to come very easily to this Spurs team, and the same cannot be said for Everton. Conceding also comes easily to Tottenham, so they might let one slip through. Postecoglou’s side can certainly outscore Everton – as they did in December – and the three points should be heading down to London.

Prediction: Everton 1-3 Tottenham
