Will Mellor has admitted that Ralf Little had a weird encounter when he first met his wife. The Death in Paradise star works with Will as co-host on their podcast: Two Pints with Will and Ralf.

Will appeared on The One Show on Friday evening to talk about the success of his podcast and his upcoming tour. He mentioned his close friendship with actor Ralf, but shared a very interesting story.

He detailed the moment when Ralf first met his wife, with his initial impression not being the best one. Will explained that his wife is a dancer and had sat down with her dinner when she met Ralf.

Will said: “She had sat down and I said, ‘Meet Ralf!’ and he just put his head in her food. And my wife is a germaphobe so she went, ‘Well, I won’t have that now.’”

This left hosts Roman Kemp and Angelica Bell in stitches of laughter, as Will added: “Ralf said, ‘I don’t know why I did it,’ and I said: ‘What’s wrong with you?!’”

Ralf Little is best known for playing the nerdy British detective Neville Parker in BBC’s Death in Paradise. Having spent the last four seasons on the show, his character is in charge of Saint Marie’s tiny police force and tackles some baffling crimes with his detecting skills.

The new series aired on Sunday, February 4 and saw the landmark 100th episode, with some exciting yet dramatic plotlines being teased. Speaking about the upcoming series, Ralf said: “Episode sixty-nine was my first as DI Neville Parker, which is (almost) 7/10ths of the way to one hundred. So, the bulk of it was already there.

“But the idea that I’d be able to do another thirty-one episodes on top of that to reach one hundred is astonishing. If I’m really honest, I was just hoping to get to the end of the first series and for everybody not to hate it. Everything after that was a bonus!”

Also during The One Show, film critic Ali Plumb shared his predictions for the upcoming BAFTA Film Awards which take place this Sunday. He anticipated that Oppenheimer and The Zone of Interest might pick up some gongs on the night.

Strictly Come Dancing winner Ellie Leach also appeared on the red sofa and spoke about her time on the Strictly live tour. She also teased fans about her next project and it set to make her theatre debut.

Ellie shot to fame in Coronation Street at a young age before she triumphed on Strictly last year. The 22-year old actress is set to star in a Cluedo themed play in Brighton and will play the iconic role of Miss Scarlett.

The One Show airs weekly on BBC One at 7pm.
