Wolves vs Liverpool – Premier League: TV channel, team news, lineups & prediction

Wolves host Liverpool in Saturday’s early kick-off as Premier League football returns following the international break.

Gary O’Neil’s side most recently lost 3-2 at Crystal Palace and only four teams have conceded more than the Wanderers’ eight goals so far after the opening four games of the season.

The Reds have made a strong start as they look to improve on a disappointing 2022/23 season and followed up their dramatic win at Newcastle with a more straightforward success over Aston Villa at Anfield.

Here’s what you need to know about the fixture.

21-year-old midfielder Joe Hodge is O’Neil’s only injury concern heading into Saturday’s game.

Changes could be made up front with young striker Fabio Silva not looking threatening. Hwang Hee-chan came off the bench to score in the 3-2 defeat at Palace before the international break and could be rewarded with a second league start of the season.

Matt Doherty scored twice on his second Wolves debut in the Carabao Cup and wore number ten for the Republic of Ireland during the international break. He’ll hope to displace Nelson Semedo in the starting XI.

Wolves predicted lineup (4-4-2): Sa; Semedo, Dawson, Kilman, Ait-Nouri; Neto, Gomes, Lemina, Sarabia; Cunha, Hwang.

Virgil van Dijk’s suspension for his red card at Newcastle was extended by another game during the break so Joe Gomez should continue to partner Joel Matip, though Ibrahima Konate is getting closer to full fitness.

Trent Alexander-Arnold pulled out of the England squad through injury and will be assessed by manager Jurgen Klopp before Saturday. Thiago Alcantara is in a similar position with a hip problem.

Wataru Endo could earn his second Liverpool start at the base of the midfield with fellow summer signings Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister pushing further forward.

Liverpool predicted lineup (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Gomez, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Endo, Mac Allister; Salah, Jota, Diaz.

Wolves got their first points on the board with a win at Everton but have looked at sea when playing more organised outfits. Wanderers fans will want to avoid a repeat of the Brighton game a few weeks ago that saw the clinical Seagulls cut through Wolves at will in a 4-1 victory.

Liverpool had to overcome red cards in both wins against Bournemouth and Newcastle before coasting past Aston Villa in more straightforward fashion. Even without Virgil van Dijk, the visitors should have too much quality in the final third for Wolves to handle.

Prediction: Wolves 1-3 Liverpool
