Apartment hearth in Serbia kills 4 youngsters, injures dad and mom

A fireplace in a southwestern Serbian city has killed 4 youngsters and injured their dad and mom, police stated on Sunday.

The hearth broke out round 7 a.m. in one of many residences in a residential constructing in Novi Pazar, about 120 miles southwest of Belgrade.

Police stated firefighters got here to the scene inside minutes of being alerted however that the house was already engulfed in hearth.

Firefighters discovered all the youngsters in a single room. They apparently died of carbon monoxide poisoning, a press release stated.

The dad and mom had been in one other room and have been hospitalized, police stated. The Novosti newspaper reported they suffered extreme burns.

It was not instantly clear what induced the hearth.

“Although the firefighters reacted swiftly and arrived on the scene, plainly the hearth had erupted a lot earlier as a result of it was in a complicated stage,” police stated.
