Brazil’s Bolsonaro’s spouse confirms husband hospitalized due to stomach pains linked to 2018 stabbing

Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has been hospitalized due to stomach pains linked to a 2018 stabbing, his spouse confirmed Monday on social media. 

The Instagram put up from Michelle Bolsonaro, comes as Brazil remains to be reeling from a mob of rioters who swarmed the nation’s Congress, Supreme Court, and presidential place on Sunday.

Many of the protesters have mentioned they need the Brazilian military to revive Bolsonaro to energy and oust the newly inaugurated leftist Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Bolsonaro had flown to Florida forward of Lula’s inauguration. He wrote on Twitter that peaceable protest is a part of democracy however vandalism and invasion of public buildings are “exceptions to this rule.”

Prior to Sunday’s riots, Bolsonaro had been seen repeatedly in a central Florida neighborhood close to Orlando, wandering a Publix grocery store’s aisles, eating alone at an area KFC and, most of all, surrounded by clusters of adoring followers.

Though the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office mentioned it obtained a request from the Secret Service to supply a police escort for Bolsonaro when he arrived and he was nonetheless a sitting president, he has not been surrounded by a noticeable phalanx of safety.

His new house, Encore Resort at Reunion within the suburbs of Orlando, is made up of furnished rental properties with foosball tables, screening rooms, Disney decor on the partitions and Mickey Mouse stuffed animals on beds.

When requested by reporters Monday if the U.S. would ship Bolsonaro again to Brazil, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan mentioned the Biden administration hadn’t obtained any requests from Brazil associated to the previous president.

Brazilian Justice Minister Flavio Dino informed reporters that, as of now, Brazil had no plans to ask the U.S. for Bolsonaro to be extradited.
