Strictly Come Dancing star Shirley Ballas’ life story could be turned into a TV drama – and she has an idea which Hollywood icon she wants to play her.

Shirley says she has received offers to turn her 2020 memoir, Behind the Sequins, into a screen adaptation. According to the Mirror, Shirley, 63, would favour an American acting legend in the role.

She said: “We have got interest for a six-part series. I am not sure who would play me. Angelina Jolie would be good.”

Fellow Strictly judge Anton du Beke could also be in-line to feature in a possible drama. Shirley added: “I would love Anton to be a part of it… I am always open to offers.”

Shirley opted to follow up her memoir with a novel, allowing her to include her most scandalous anecdotes in Murder on the Dancefloor, where main character, Lily Richmond, is based on her.

Speaking to Good Housekeeping Live, she said: “There were many stories in the autobiography that I could not write, or they did not want me to include, or did not want me to write.”

Strictly Come Dancing will be heading to Blackpool next Saturday for its 9th week. Contestants will be taking to the stage at the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom.

Fans have been left fuming this week however after Angela Rippon survived the dreaded dance off against Krishnan Guru-Murthy. While three of the judges opted to save the Angela, head judge Shirley took a different approach.

She said: “I picked the person that I felt was more grounded on their feet without any technical errors, and I would have saved Krishnan and Lauren.”
