Alison Hammond has revealed she’s bagged herself a brand new television role away from ITV and This Morning. The 49-year-old will be starring in the new quiz show Rob Beckett’s Smart TV with the comedian and Josh Widdicombe.

Sky TV posted the news on their official Instagram page along with a trailer to show their 144 thousand followers. In the clip, the voiceover says: “From the beginning, television shaped our world, captivating viewers. Now, one team is here to celebrate our love of telly.”

Rob, 38, will act as host of the show, while Alison and Josh will be team captains, as celebrity guests join them each week to try and answer television-related questions.

They captioned the post: “Quizzing about TV, on the TV. Join Rob Beckett, Alison Hammond and Josh Widdicombe and a series of special TV guests to celebrate our love of all things telly!”

Alison’s new gig comes after she was dealt a huge blow when her new BBC series was axed before it had even aired. It was reported earlier this week that a dance competition show that she was due to host will no longer be airing.

It is suggested that the show, which was due to be called Clear The Dance-floor, won’t be taken beyond the pilot stage.

The first episode was filmed in February 2023, with Alison helming the series – but the BBC has reportedly opted to pull the plug.

A source told The Sun: “This will be gutting for Alison, as getting an ongoing gig on the Beeb is seen as many a presenter’s ultimate goal.

“There were high hopes for Clear The Dance-floor as it seemed to tap into the same energy as Strictly, which she appeared on in 2014. But she won’t be short of work this year anyway.”

Clear The Dance-floor had been teased as a “high-energy, primetime dance show” and a call-out stated: “We’re looking for a fun-loving audience for the pilot episode, where alongside our superstar judges – you’ll decide who stays and who goes from the competition.”

The BBC declined to comment when asked for a statement about the reports.

Alison hit the big time when she was given a main presenter role on This Morning in 2021 alongside Dermot O’Leary.

She has also gone on to host The Great British Bake Off in 2023, replacing Matt Lucas who decided to exit the cooking competition.
