Amanda Holden has been called out on social media for “embarrassing” her daughter Lexi with her choice of moves at her 18th birthday party. The 52-year-old took to Instagram to post a clip from the party and show her 2.1 million followers what was going down at her eldest daughter’s milestone birthday.
The Britain’s Got Talent judge could be seen attempting to do the latest social media trend to Sophie Ellis Bexter’s hit song Murder on the Dancefloor.
In the video, Amanda could be seen gyrating on the walls and dancing with her daughter’s friends as a camera followed her. She captioned it: “The latest trend. #murderonthedancefloor @lexi.hughes_official 18th.. enjoy the entire long version with all guests is on my TikTok account.”
However, Instagram users were not happy with Amanda and accused her of attempting to steal the limelight from her daughter. One person said: “The fake sexy dancing and the way she moves people out of the way is shocking.”
Another user wrote: “Is this your daughters party, or is about you?” Somebody else added: “Oh dear MUM… Me thinks you don’t know your place. It’s really NOT about YOU..”
A fourth expressed: “Taking the limelight away from daughter at her birthday party.”
While a fifth said: “I’m glad my mother didn’t do that at my 18th. It always has to be about her doesn’t it?”
Despite backlash from some, one loyal fan supported Amanda and said: “Shocking comments, clearly people who want to make judgemental comments are the ones who are embarrassing..
“She’s having a fabulous night with her family & friends & let the woman enjoy it… I would be getting down with all my daughters friends too!!! Enjoy life, share love not hate.”
Lexi is Amanda’s eldest daughter with husband Chris Hughes, while they also share eleven-year-old daughter Hollie.
The couple got married at Babington House in Somerset on 10th December 2008.
