Amanda Holden stands her ground in disagreement with Simon Cowell despite harsh comments from Sharon Osbourne

Amanda Holden has vowed to stand her ground in the face of criticism from Sharon Osbourne, maintaining her stance despite a scathing attack from the outspoken star.

Osbourne lashed out at Holden after she expressed her dislike for seeing her boss Simon Cowell being “dissed” by individuals on a reality TV show, with the BGT star claiming he had helped to boost their careers. Many interpreted Amanda’s remarks as a swipe at Sharon and Louis Walsh, who took several digs at Cowell during their stint on Celebrity Big Brother.

Never one to shy away from controversy, Sharon responded to Amanda’s comments with a fiery open letter posted on social media, labelling her as both “crass” and “clueless”.

A representative for Amanda has now stepped forward to indicate that she harbours no regrets about defending Cowell, whom she is due to join on Britain’s Got Talent 2024 next week.

A spokesperson for Amanda told Express.co.uk: “Amanda is aware of Sharon’s incredible career but, just like her, Amanda will always defend those close to her.”

On Saturday, Osbourne penned that Holden did not understand her “history in the music industry, my achievements, the artists I have worked with, the shows that I’ve produced, and my global celebrity”.

Osbourne, who has managed bands like The Smashing Pumpkins and Motorhead, mentioned that “the brand of Sharon Osbourne is known worldwide” and she has been “blessed with an amazing lifestyle throughout my entire life” referring to her homes in the US and the UK.

She stated: “I never discuss money, lifestyle, or positions of power. I find it to be classless and crude. However, you’ve now forced my hand to divulge these things to you and I honestly don’t want to seem like I’m bragging, but the truth is my money and success were not due to doing a couple of Simon Cowell talent shows.

“Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed doing them at the time as they were great fun. Yes, Simon paid me very well.”

Renowned for her early 2000s reality show, The Osbournes, featuring her famous family, and her personal programme, The Sharon Osbourne Show, the matriarch told Amanda that all her earnings from Simon’s talent shows “went on a few handbags”.

The row erupted after Holden was quoted as saying in MailOnline: “I hated seeing certain people in a reality show dissing Simon he’s the person who’s given them all the chances, given them a lot of money and a lifestyle they probably wouldn’t have had.”

“It’s bitter and pathetic. It was like Cinderella with her two sisters in the background just stabby, stabby, stabby.”

During her stint as a guest star on the ITV reality show, Sharon Osbourne and Irish talent manager Louis Walsh made a few remarks concerning well-known individuals, including Simon Cowell.

Ex-judge of The X Factor, Walsh admitted: “I haven’t talked to him at all, nothing, zero” referring to Cowell.

Osbourne noted: “But that’s Simon. He cuts you off. He doesn’t know how to keep friends.”

She also complained about missing out on a significant role as a judge on the debut season of America’s The Masked Singer due to contractual obligations with Cowell’s The X Factor.

She reminisced: “Do you remember that year, everything in the press, ‘they’re old’, young blood, and I went mad when they told me. I went mad. And then he called me. He was trying to sweet talk me.

“He would always (want) change, change, change, well you’re the one that needs changing mate. Look, somebody that dresses the same for probably three decades you would say, they don’t see that it’s not right, nobody’s going to tell him, but everything is the same, the same, the same.”

Following a revamp in the judging panel, Nicole Scherzinger, Osbourne, and Walsh did not return for series 15 of The X Factor.

The X Factor, which last graced our screens approximately five years ago, featured a judging panel of Cowell, Louis Tomlinson, Ayda Field, and Robbie Williams, before the show was put on hiatus.

Osbourne was slated to make an appearance, but opted out, stating in 2018 that she had “decided to pass on the series”.
