Charles Hanson will not be appearing in any BBC shows in the “imminent future,” according to reports.

The Bargain Hunt expert, who also appears on Flog It! and Antiques Road Trip, faces charges of assault and coercive behaviour and was released on police bail after being charged seven days ago.

According to MailOnline, a source claimed the 45-year-old was not scheduled to appear on the BBC in the imminent future and is also not a BBC employee.

Hanson has denied all of the charges and said he had “never behaved aggressively” towards his family and it was “extremely sad” that “difficult times” in his marriage had become a criminal matter.

He told Express.co.uk: “I deny all the charges. I have never behaved aggressively or unlawfully towards my family.

“We have been through some difficult times in our marriage and it is extremely sad that this has become a criminal matter. I will be co-operating fully with the investigation and legal process.”

Police responded to a “domestic incident” in June at the six-bedroom rural home that the BBC star shared with his wife, Rebecca Ludlam, and their two children.

It has been reported the auctioneer has since moved back in with his parents.

Derbyshire police confirmed he had been charged with two counts each of assault by beating and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, one count of coercive behaviour and two relating to causing “unnecessary suffering or injury” to a child.

On Thursday, a spokesperson for Derbyshire Police said: “The force was called to reports of a domestic incident at an address in Church Road, Quarndon in June (2023). A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of assault and was released on police bail while enquiries continued.”

The statement added Hanson was released on police bail to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on January 10.

Hanson’s career began in 1999 when he worked at Christie’s as a valuer in the European Ceramics and Glass Department. Six years later, he founded Hansons Auctioneers and Valuers.

He is best known for his appearances as an antiques expert on Bargain Hunt, Flog It! and Antiques Road Trip.
