BBC Breakfast’s Carol Kirkwood marries partner Steve as co-stars rush to congratulate

BBC Breakfast’s meteorologist Carol Kirkwood has become a wife for the second time after marrying partner Steve on Wednesday. The 61-year-old tied the knot at a “romantic and intimate” ceremony in Buckinghamshire, announced by her co-stars Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt on the show this morning.

Addressing the news, Naga told viewers: “Carol, obviously Carol Kirkwood our friend and colleague, has got married. She married her partner Steve this week.”

As a snap from the ceremony was shown to viewers, she added: “She looks fabulous doesn’t she?” Charlie chimed in: “Really happy for her!” He added: “If you’re wondering where Carol is, that’s what she’s been up to.”

Speaking of their big day, Carol shared via the hosts: “It was the most perfect and romantic and intimate wedding. We are both so incredibly happy.” Pictures from her wedding show the weather presenter beaming with happiness as she and her new husband posed for pictures.

Looking every inch the beautiful bride, she opted for a bardot-style floor-length gown completed with a dainty necklace, while her new husband wore a grey waistcoat and trousers covered with a smart black jacket.

Adding to her look, the BBC star styled her hair in an elegant up’do and wore elegant, but natural make-up.

Following the announcement, many of Carol’s co-stars and fans have flocked to social media to send congratulatory messages.

Sally Nugent shared a picture of the newlyweds on X, formerly known as Twitter, writing: “Congratulations Carol and Steve. Thrilled to share this beautiful picture of the happy couple.”

Jon Kay added: “Look at these two!! We are all so very happy for this wonderful couple. Just the loveliest way to end 2023. Forecast: [sunshine and smiley face emojis]. @BBCBreakfast.”

Dan Walker wrote: “Congratulations to Carol and Steve. Steve is one very fortunate gentlemen and Carol is the best of us all. She is kind, caring, brilliant at her job and a wonderful person to be around.

“I wish them every happiness in their new life together.”

Carol announced her engagement live on-air from the Chelsea Flower Show last year.

Showing off her ring during a forecast, she shared of the moment: “We went out for a picnic, I had absolutely no idea.

“The weather was glorious, we were sitting chatting… he was fumbling in his pocket and then out came a ring, I thought he was joking actually, I didn’t believe him to start with.”

Carol prefers to keep her love life away from the public eye, including the surname of her new spouse, but recently gushed about her “extremely handsome” partner in an interview with Prima Magazine.

The presenter said Steve was “always making me laugh” adding: “He is the best thing that’s ever happened to me, without a shadow of a doubt.”

The presenter was previously married to first husband Jimmy from 1990 to 2008.
