BBC Strictly’s James Jordan gleefully reveals he’s been blocked by Jeremy Vine

James Jordan questioned whether Jeremy Vine should have gone on a “road proficiency course” after a bike he was riding was mowed down by a van – and now he’s shared that the BBC Radio 2 star has hit the block button to shut his comments out. The former Strictly Come Dancing star gleefully shared the news on Twitter, now known as X, in a post this afternoon, calling it a festive gift.

“Just received a late Christmas present – love getting blocked by people that don’t like hearing the truth,” he told his 363,000 followers. Beneath his words, he enclosed a screenshot confirming that he was “blocked from following and viewing [Jeremy’s] posts”.

In the run-up to the festive season earlier this month, 58-year-old Jeremy had shared a letter from the authorities clarifying that the driver who’d knocked him down had attended a “Safe and Considerate Driving Course”. James, 45, almost instantly took issue with his post, firing back: “Driver wasn’t prosecuted which says a lot.

“They are basically saying what he did was equivalent to going 34 in a 30 – and why does it ALWAYS happen to you Jeremy? Maybe it’s you that needs to go for a road proficiency course.” He went on to blast “incompetent” cyclists and to argue that he “never” experiences similar problems when he’s on the road himself.

One Twitter user defended Jeremy, exclaiming: “The police said the motorist was in the wrong and Jeremy wasn’t. It’s that simple.” However, James doubled down, reminding the tweeter: “[He] wasn’t prosecuted.”

He followed up with a video of a biker swerving away from a fire engine, declaring that cyclists should take accountability for accidents that take place on the road.

“And this is why cyclists should be accountable – all this money that’s been spent for cyclists yet many are still incompetent,” he wrote.

“They should have some kind of licence or cycling proficiency test to pass if they want to share the roads with cars who pay road tax. Also insurance.”

James, who reached the Strictly final just over a decade ago with Denise Van Outen, received a stream of supportive comments on the app after admitting he’d been blocked by Jeremy.

One follower joked: “It’s a badge of honour, can’t stand the guy!” while another shared a quote by philosopher Plato warning: “No-one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

A third vented: “You’re right, James. Speaking for silent majority. A cyclist can’t see a bright red fire engine with flashing blue lights, then shouldn’t be cycling on roads. I question their vision & spatial awareness. Why overtake an emergency vehicle?”

However, James did receive one message of criticism on his post, from an app user who argued: “Your silly opinions about road tax, cycling licences, cyclist insurance and accountability have been debunked numerous times on this platform, no doubt he blocked you because you’re an idiot.”

It isn’t the first time James has made controversial comments about skills on the road, criticising his wife Ola – a fellow former Strictly star – for taking his car out and bringing it back with a “flat tyre”.

He took to Twitter to groan: “This is what happens when you let your wife take your car for the day. It comes home with a totally flat tyre where she’s rammed it up the kerb, exploded the tyre – tyre’s gone – scuffed all the wheels.

“I know all the old jokes about women not being able to drive, but the reason they’re funny is because it’s true!”

However, Ola gave her husband a stark warning about his comments, telling him to tread carefully as the majority of his online followers are female.
