BBC Strictly Come Dancing star Stacey Dooley was overcome with emotion as she shared the birthday celebrations she and pro dancer Kevin Clifton had put on for their little girl. The pair first met when they were partnered together on Strictly back in 2018, and went on to announce Stacey’s pregnancy four years later.
They are now besotted with daughter Minnie and Stacey was every inch the proud parent as she and Kevin delivered a party to remember. Dressing up in a leopard print suit for the occasion, she brandished a bright pink three-tier birthday cake while flashing an adoring smile at Minnie, while in another photo she warmly embraced Kevin.
“Spent the entire weekend celebrating our baby g. My best best little pal is ONE,” she enthused in one of her photo captions. She added in view of her one million Instagram followers: “To all our dearest pals and fam who made such an effort…what can I say? We are v v lucky. So touched.”
“Kev, first year? COMPLETED IT MAAAAATE,” the excited 36-year-old continued. In another caption, she joked: “The blurriness [of this photo] is V V V representative of the last 12 months. WELL DONE US.”
She affectionately added: “LOVE U KING KEV.” Although the little girl may have been too young to tuck into all of the tasty treats, a plentiful buffet was laid on, including multiple cakes, and a huge centre-piece iced with the words: “Minnie is one.”
Many of her followers were in awe of Minnie’s celebration, with one commenting: “First birthdays are so emotional, I was tearful at each one my children had. Such a wonderful marker point for them and us a parents… She is so cute. Happy birthday to everyone.”
Stacey had previously kept her pregnancy secret for months, before taking to Instagram for the big announcement and joking that she could no longer get away with hiding her growing bump.
“Was becoming impossible to hide and if one more person asks me if I’ve had my tits done in LA, I’m gonna scream!” she joked.
Stacey and Kevin fell for each other after they were paired up on Strictly, while pro dancer Dianne Buswell and YouTuber Joe Sugg found themselves in the same situation after all four appeared on the 2018 edition of the show.
However, Stacey didn’t get together with her beau until the year after the show, as she had been in a long-term relationship prior to that.
The pair moved in together over lockdown, and three years after they first started dating, their pregnancy was announced.
Stacey enthused that she felt lucky to be giving birth at 35, pointing out that, due to her age: “You never take it for granted.”
