Days after the 33-year-old musician confirmed rumors of a romance by showing up to a Kansas City Chiefs game to support the athlete, also 33, the Real Housewives of New York City alum took to social media with a message about “keeping your own identity.”
“So I’m not a Taylor Swift fan and I don’t mean that in a negative way. I went to her concert. I had a great time. I have tremendous respect for how hard she works. It’s just like certain people, I’m not an active fan,” Bethenny, 52, began on TikTok, along with the hashtag “independence.”
“I just watch her entertainment and her quote-on-quote antics or whatever you guys talk about on social media as fodder and I’ve heard when in the past, you guys have said she buys houses near guys she dates and she gets really into the guy she’s with,” she continued.
According to the former RHONY cast member, she was taken aback by certain behavior Taylor exhibited at Sunday’s event.
“She was really, really over the top as a fan and chumming with the mom and it felt like the chi pet of relationships, like just add water,” she noted, jokingly saying, “They were together for 10 years, she’s a full football wife.”
Although Bethenny noted that “opinions are like a**holes” and insisted she was just “chiming in for fun,” she went on to say that she couldn’t help but notice that sport fans are a bit different than fans of other genres.
“People in their own spaces are wary of newcomers,” she stated. “It took a long time for [Gisele Bündchen] to be a football wife. And remember, Kim Kardashian was at the Saints games like all in? Football fans are very tricky. They like loyalists, like ride or die. They’re not interested in people coming in for a short ride.”
While only time will tell how short-lived Taylor’s football enthusiasm will be, Bethenny pointed out that not long ago, she was dating 1975 bandmate Matt Healy.
“She literally looked like she had been in s serious relationship with [Travis] for decades. And I think a couple of months ago we saw her on her tour with another guy. She was dating another guy,” she explained.
Then, after suggesting no one really cares, she internalized the topic as a mother of a 13-year-old daughter, Bryn Casey Hoppy.

“It’s important, and I tell my daughter every day, it’s great to find people that you like spending time with and boys are gonna be great and fun, or girls, whatever she chooses, but you have to maintain your own identity and you don’t want to absorb your whole life into someone else’s,” she said. “Even though it’s fun, you need to keep your two feet on the ground and be your own person and nobody needs to save you. And no other person should be your identity.”
