Carol Vorderman admits she ‘likes attention’ and hits back at criticism over racy outfits

Carol Vorderman has hit back at the criticism she’s received over outfits that show off her voluptuous figure, saying she “likes attention” and has no intention of stepping into the shadows. Her comments come after she admitted she’d muted a list of words, including “Botox” and “plastic”, on social media to ward off a stream of offensive messages about her appearance.

The 63-year-old ex-Countdown mathematician, who previously worked in engineering, told Grazia that attention and admiration appeals to her as she’s an “extrovert” and “social animal”. Recently, ex-Tory Mayor hopeful Baron Shaun Bailey was criticised online for exclaiming of Carol: “She’s a serious political commentator and then if you look at her Instagram it’s all pictures of her bum and her boobs. So what is it here? She can’t be both.”

Carol begs to differ, declaring: “He’s the one with the problem, not me.” Hitting back at swipes about her looks, she revealed that she “loves” being in her 60s, no matter who tries to bring her down.

“I just don’t give a c**p and [as for] that Shaun Bailey nonsense – I just say, ‘How dare you!’ on behalf of women everywhere.” The LBC star doesn’t seem to have deterred viewers of the BBC show Sundays with Laura Kuenssberg, as they recently voted her one of the people they’d most like to see as Prime Minister.

Carol’s political views have certainly commanded attention – and divided a nation – as she has swiped at everyone from Rishi Sunak to ex-Home Secretary Suella Braverman recently. However, she revealed that becoming a MP, let alone PM, might be one step too far.

Blasting “corruption”, which she claims has been rife since Boris Johnson’s period of leadership, she says her mission is simply to hold MPs to account and use her position of fame to amplify those who have been silenced.

“I definitely don’t want to be an MP, but I am loving being a channel for a million people who feel like they have no voice,” she confirmed.

She recently caused a stir when she predicted GB News will be off air within 18 months if Labour wins at the next election.
