Cherie’s parents were informed that, in order to save their daughter’s life, her entire left leg and half of her pelvis would need to be amputated. An external hemipelvectomy is a particularly rare and dangerous type of amputation that makes using a prosthetic very challenging. Later, her left leg and the left half of her pelvis were removed after she was diagnosed with bone cancer.
As a result, she has spent her entire life relying on crutches to get around, which has caused her to become extremely self-conscious about her disability.

After Cherie Louise entered her 20s, she found like-minded friends on social media and began sharing snaps of herself online.
