Christina Aguilera And Cher Worked Together In Burlesque
Burlesque came out in 2010 and marked the first collaboration between Cher and Christina Aguilera. At the time, Cher hadn’t made a movie in seven years. Working with Christina Aguilera, there was bound to be some drama behind the scenes after Cher got cast in the movie.
Christina was excited at the prospect of working with Cher because she has always had authentic admiration for the star, although she had not met her before.
“She’s truly an incredible woman and a force of nature,” Christina said about Cher. “I respect her talent, her no-bulls***, genuine way of saying it as she sees it, making up her own rules, and helping to pave the way for so many other women in generations to come,” she concluded.
The movie was Christina’s first acting opportunity and Cher’s first musical debut. As such, the two stars bonded over making it. In fact, when the movie was released, in 2010, Christina was vocal about their friendship.

Christina Impersonated Cher Singing The “Folgers Coffee” Jingle On Jimmy Fallon
Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Christina agreed to play the Wheel of Musical Impressions with her host, wherein they would take turns doing random impressions of various artists.
As it happened, Christina’s first impression was… the “Folgers Coffee” jingle by Cher. Christina looked a bit taken aback when she realized what she was supposed to sing, so Jimmy started humming the song to her, trying to help her remember what it sounded like.
“Okay, I remember. Let me get my Cher on,” she said, before getting into a perfect rendition of Cher’s voice and mannerisms, complete with closed eyes and the iconic way the star holds the microphone while singing.
As she finished the jingle, she seemed in disbelief at how well she had done the impersonation. Both she and Jimmy Fallon dissolved into giggles before he banged on his desk.
“You’re so good,” he concluded and launched into his own impersonation.
Christina’s Impression Of Cher Was Spot On And The Audience Was Shocked
Christina also got to do an impression of Britney Spears, with whom she’s had a long and complicated relationship, and one of Shakira. She managed to nail both of them, making the audience feel like both singers were in attendance alongside her and Jimmy Fallon.
Fans, however, were shocked about how well she mimicked Cher’s voice, concluding that she can sing like any other pop star, but no other star can sing like her.
Many fans also talked about her incredible talent in comments to the video, praising her incredible voice range but also her sense of humor and down-to-earth attitude.
Christina may have a natural singing talent, but her musical influences growing up may also have made it easy for her to tackle any type of voice without fail. As quoted by IMDb, she has made no mystery about her biggest influences growing up.
“My inspiration, I’ve had many, again, starting with Julie Andrews at a young age. But growing up, I sang Whitney Houston songs in talent shows. But when I discovered Mariah Carey and ‘Vision of Love,’, that was a breath of fresh air and I adored her from that moment on and idolized her,” Christina said, citing three incredibly talented music stars that she’s also been compared to.
It’s really amazing that in articles I’ve been compared to her. It’s truly unbelievable because, whenever I was younger, I would ask my mom, ‘Do you think I’ll ever be as big and sing as well as Mariah Carey?’ And now that it has happened, my mom says, ‘I knew it would happen.’
Christina has always been quite complimentary about other artists and has tried to support them, including joining forces with Iggy Azalea to support Britney Spears during her conservatorship battle with her father.
